Ferrari-engined Toyota GT86 Hits the Track
Meet the GT86 of your dreams.
Professional Drifter Ryan Tuerck has been working hard with his title sponsors in building the Donut Media brand. One of the excellent projects they have worked on was a new Toyota GT86 for SEMA. Finished and driven to SEMA the day of, this build has been intense. This particular GT86 features a 570 horsepower, 9000RPM, 4.5L V8 engine from a Ferrari 458 Italia.
It may have been built for SEMA, but this is no show car. Though it is not a Formula Drift-spec weapon, it was intended to be driven very hard by Tuerck. What better way to shake down this fiery Italian testarossa than a track day. Located 90 miles north of Los Angeles, Willow Springs International Raceway is a motorsports playground for the car obsessed. Willow Springs has three road courses, a “balcony” for drift practice, and oval track and several karting tracks.
The rest of the build is equally high dollar. A custom widebody kit with louvered front fenders features custom ducting to the engine’s air filters. That widebody is covering up some custom sized forged wheels by 1552 and the requisite Hankook RS3 tires. Additional aero tweaks include the side skirts, diffuser and wing.
The chassis features a custom roll cage with reinforcement points in key areas. For example, the engine bay has a triangulated section, with the strut towers bonded to the center of the chassis with roll cage tubing. Making the chassis as rigid as possible helps keep the suspension better located as it moves. This improves “feel’ for the driver and allows the suspension to work more efficiently. From there, the car has the full range of WiseFab suspension components to allow for damn near infinite adjustability and big steering angle.
We need one of these, badly.
