What Non-Toyota Vehicle Needs a Scion Badge?

The collaboration between Subaru and Toyota to create the masterpiece that is the Scion FR-S is one of those magical “1+1 = 3” synergies of the automotive industry. Toyota’s chassis tuning and flare for design combined with the Subaru boxer engine’s low center of gravity yields one of the best sports cars out there. I mean, really, what other $20,000 sports car can be taken seriously in a comparison against a Ferrari F12berlinetta?

Yes, there have been quite a few auto company collaborations that have failed — my favorite failure being the Rover-Honda-spawned Sterling. How the British managed to make an Acura Legend unreliable is beyond me. However, the Subaru-Toyota collaboration that spawned the FR-S/GT86 is a success story that will resonate through the ages … probably just as loudly as the Rover/Honda/Sterling failure.

Seeing as Toyota has had good luck with its Subaru partnership, wouldn’t it be cool if they could hook up with another manufacturer to create a new Scion? We’re keeping our ears to the ground on what developments arise out of this BMW-Toyota collaboration, but what other partnerships could be undertaken to fill out the Scion portfolio?

This is the final model year of the Toyota FJ Cruiser. What if Toyota partnered with Jeep to come out with a Scion follow-up to the FJ?
