Scion Racing gave a strong performance with its Evasive Motorsports Scion FR-S at the 91st Annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. It was a weekend of firsts with the rear-wheel-drive Scion making its hill-climb debut while being piloted by Pikes Peak rookie Robert Walker. Because of a robust aerodynamics package, the car was bumped up from Time Attack class to the Unlimited class where it competed among vehicles with double its horsepower.

Robert Walker achieved a time of 10:59.74, placing 9th in his class and 27th overall. Had the FR-S remained in Time Attack, it would have placed fourth in class. For comparison’s sake, Pikes Peak leader Sebastien Loeb completed the climb in a record-obliterating 8:13.88 with his 875-horsepower Peugeot 208 T16. The previous record stood at 9:46.16.

Rounding out Scion’s assault on the mountain was the Scion Racing Rally xD, and GReddy Racing Scion tC. Andrew Comrie-Picard and his Scion Racing xD crossed the finish line in 12:39.89 placing eighth in Time Attack and 87th overall.

The GReddy Rally tC and driver, Takeshi Aizawa placed 11th in Time Attack and 107th overall with the clock showing 13:20.05. A total of 130 vehicles completed the climb.

We’re already anticipating next year’s results. Luckily there’s plenty of Scion news to distract us in the meantime.
