Please note, from here on out, this forum will now be officially named Scion Afterlife.

Yes, dear ScionLifers, it’s time to bid the venerable marque adieu, as Toyota is discontinuing their youth-oriented offshoot for good. Oh, who are we kidding, given less than 13 years to operate, the brand never had a chance to be venerable.

Scion did see some wins though; set pricing, mono-spec cars, Service Boost prepaid maintenance, and more ideas were all innovative, if not ground breaking. And they’ve made many a good car, that’s pleased many a come-back customer, and opened the door for future Toyota and Lexus buyers. Just like Toyota planned all along.

According to the press release:

“This isn’t a step backward for Scion; it’s a leap forward for Toyota. Scion has allowed us to fast track ideas that would have been challenging to test through the Toyota network,” said Jim Lentz, founding vice president of Scion and now CEO, Toyota Motor North America. “I was there when we established Scion and our goal was to make Toyota and our dealers stronger by learning how to better attract and engage young customers. I’m very proud because that’s exactly what we have accomplished.”

Well, apparently Toyota has learned what they needed, because they are transitioning Scion back into the brand. They will continue to make the two newest Scion models, the iM and iA, and also the FR-S. Heck, who knows, maybe they’ll even make it with some real power. Toyota will also advance the plan to bring to market the Scion C-HR crossover, which was recently shown at the L.A. auto show. There will also be a final commemorative edition tC.

Service and repair for your existing Scions will continue to be done at your Toyota dealership’s service department.

As far as what impact this will have on the resale value of your Scions, well, that’s up for debate.
