What Do We Want? A Rally xD!
Because the world does not have enough rally cars in it, at least in my opinion, Scion has this.
A FiA spec rally xD! A few days ago I brought you a FR-S rally car, now we have more! This xD is piloted by Matthew Johnson and the Scion Racing Rally team. The team began in 2011 and took the brand new team and brand new car to an overall finish of 5th in the 2WD class, not bad out of a total of 13 cars. Actually, that’s pretty heroic for a brand new team and car.
How heroic, at Snow Drift, the xD blew out a tire at high speed, and then a major lighting issue during the night stage. They still picked up 2nd place, and 10th overall. 10th in a race where there are machines that costs half a million dollars and have massive budgets and teams. This team were not those guys.
The team continued to make progress throughout the years and got many a podium. Now this season is almost over and the team had to sit out a few races due to testing some new tech in the car, but even so, they still sit on the 5th spot out of 15 cars in their class! This team is truly amazing, and this car is just frankly ridiculous. Heck, all rally cars are ridiculous.
Next up on the calendar is August 22nd in Michigan, and is definitely one of the hardest rally’s on the schedule. Hopefully the boys in the xD can pull out some wins in the last two races and get back on top.
