According to rumors coming out of Toyota and Subaru, the pair are working diligently to refresh the BRZ/FR-S twins. This will come as good news to many enthusiasts who have felt that the company has mistakenly left the cars alone since the launch, almost four years ago now.

Over those years, we’ve seen a few different iterations pop up here and there, but none have really captured the public’s interest as much as the car did when it first came out. Many have pointed out that the car needs more power and a new look, and we’re inclined to agree. The Toyobaru twins are great cars, but they just lack a certain power band that keeps you wanting to get back into it. I know from personal experience, since I just sold mine for that very reason.

Thankfully, according to the rumors, the Toyobaru twins are likely to see a modest power boost and a refreshed look, in addition to some new trick suspension components. Now, at the moment, these are all still rumors, but seeing as the Toyobaru twins are nearing their mid cycle life spans, it wouldn’t be all that difficult to imagine Toyota and Subaru coming up with something a bit better, and definitely newer, in the next year or so. Only time will tell.
