The salesman I had new absolutely NOTHING about the xA. He was wishy-washy regarding my trade-in, over-charged for spring installation, other dealerships are charging $100, they wanted $480!!! The timeframe for getting my car went from 1 week, to 2 weeks, to 6 weeks.
Now onto the service department. To sum it up, they are a bunch of uninformed, know-nothing hacks. I was reprogramming my alarm so that all doors would unlock with one press of the keypad. This procedure is in the Scion alarm manual. When I finished the procedure, my key fobs would not work. The alarm would arm if I used the actual key in the door but not the key-pad. It was like the key-pad lost it's mojo. I called McInerney service and they told me that I could not re-program the alarm and that you have to press the button twice to unlock all doors. I asked them why it was in the manual then and they were stumped and said they would call me back in 5 minutes. I called them back in 15 minutes and they said bring it in, we'll fix it. I took it in and they couldn't fix it so I made an appointment for the next day, took a day off of work for this mind you. I told them again that it seems like the key-pad lost it's programming. They said, "Yeah, we'll take a look at it." 15 minutes later, they have my whole dash torn apart and this prick of a Manager comes in, the conversation went like this:
McInerney Prick: "Mr. Fera, we've got a $65 bill for you."
Me: "For what?"
McInerney Prick: "You know what you did."
Me: "What? What did I do?"
McInerney Prick: "You ran all that interior lighting and tapped into the alarm harness. That's what is wrong with your alarm and it's going to cost you $65."
Me: "I know what I've tapped into and I've never touched the alarm, only the floor well lighting. Show me, I want you to show me what I did to make the key-pads stop working."
McInerney Prick: "Let's go."
We walk out to the car and the tech is in the car still and prick boss says, what did he tapp into to make this problem. The tech shruggs his shoulders and says, "I don't know. All I see right now is he tapped into the floor well lighting." Prick boss then says, "Well I'm keeping this order open in case you find something." and then walks away.
They mess around with the car for another 3 hours and then tell me that when I put the extra lighting in, I pulled the alarm harness loose and fried the ECU. They are going to order a new ECU and warranty it even though it's my fault and it'll be here in week.
So the ECU is fried even though it arms when I lock the doors manually... riiiight.
Not satisfied with this diagnosis, I went home and came to ScionLife.com and did a search. I found a dealearship procedure and within 5 minutes my car was fixed after I REPROGRAMMED THE REMOTES.
McInerney SCION/TOYOTA are the most worthless bunch of Techs and Salesmen you will ever meet.
I wish I would have gone to Suburban Toyota. They have much better customer service and know what they are selling.
GO TO SUBURBAN SCION AND STAY AWAY FROM McINERNEY SCION !!!
