Let me preface this with - I would never use this dealer again, nor would I recommend this dealer.
My experience: Initial impression was great, very friendly service, very helpful, I knew what I wanted when I went to the dealership - even had a pdf of the exact specifications, ordered the tC on the spot and was told it would take a couple of months to arrive. That was fantastic, but it went downhill from there.
Under a month out from receiving the car I'm told that I can no longer get the blue LED, only the amber one. In asking why I'm told it's a "safety" issue (that they thought anyone would believe that amber lights are safer than blue should have been my indication to cancel the contract on the spot). I immediately contact Scion corporate to confirm this unlikely bit of news and was told there were no known safety issues and they were still making the blue lights, perhaps the dealer just doesn't have them in stock? Called the dealer on it, and of course, I got the blue lights I wanted. This took about a 1/2 day of calls.
Next piece of lunacy, I am told the day before I am supposed to pick up the car that I can no longer have the side airbags AND the auto dimming mirror. In questioning this I'm told it is because of a wiring issue. That sounds unlikely to me so I contact Scion corporate and I'm told that there exists no such constraint. Called the dealership again to question why corporate thinks it is okay to have both, they were very unhelpful and frankly could not or would not tell me why I could not get the parts I ordered 2 months ago!! I finally ended up having to contact another person at Scion Corporate's Northeast office, who thank goodness, was very helpful and put me in touch with the Scion engineering group who finally gave me an answer that made sense. The northeast office also guaranteed me that I would have the part when it came in at the original cost. This took about a day of calls.
Next issue, Condit Toyota receives a Federal Express package with MY NAME as the addressee (Condit Toyota's name was not on the package) and they decide they'll go ahead and open it without me present. Tampering with other people's mail is a federal offense, I should see if Federal Express has any such protections.
Next issue, my temporary plates expire while I'm waiting for Condit to register the car (20 days!). I call up Condit and I'm told, just drive with the expired plates, the police probably won't pull you over for it, but if I get a ticket Condit will pay for it. Can you imagine??? You have to question the integrity of a dealership which encourages you to conduct an illegal act.
Unreal. The sum of it is, they're very helpful and friendly until you make the purchase, at that point you can expect ZERO customer service and rude, uninformed service people.
The happy ending is that I love my tC, I only hope there's an easier way to buy one!!
