Extending cathode wiring

So I attempted extending the wiring for two cathodes tonight. I soldered the splice and made sure that the polarity was right. However, when I connected the pigtail to the transformer and they are about half of the brightness that they should be. Plus, the light doesn't go all the way across the cathode, it stops about an inch from the end of the tube. I used 20ga hookup wiring. What did I do wrong?
Extending the wire adds more resistance, which the transformer and cathode don't seem to like. I was able to extend mine by a few inches without the dimming, but I have seen what you are talking about. How far are you trying to extend the wires?

I really need the pigtail to be 2ft. I have the transformer mounted near the grille on the radiator supports. I have two running in the grille, and I want to strap the other two to my strut bar. So, if I want it to look remotely clean, I need to run the wiring along the fender well and under the core support.
You could try using larger gauge wire with a higher thread count, but I doubt that would alleviate enough resistance to allow you to stretch the 2 ft. you are hoping for. Have you tried contacting Oznium to see what they have to offer as a solution? Maybe they can shed some light on the subject.
I extended mine about 4-5" with no dimming, but I also used #16 wire. If your lights need to be 5 ft. apart (6" wire + 2 ft. extension + 2 ft. extension + 6" wire) then you should just add another transformer. You can usually buy them separately and they are really cheap.

Yea, I just checked Oznium. I'll just tap off of the existing wiring. I have the randode underhood kit. I'm pretty sure it's tapping 12v in the cabin, do you know how many cathodes can be run off of his harness?
