Default Iphone??

Will the iphone be compatible? The connector is the same.
Hope there might be away for the phone to work through the speakers and BT?

Not sure of that just yet, but I'm guessing that it would. Apple is pretty good about keeping with standards, so I would venture to bet that if it fits the iPod, they would have wanted it to fit the iPhone.

Keep in mind, they didn't even announce this thing until a few months ago, and at that point, all of the A/V had been hashed out on Scion's side.

You'll be able to access the iPod functions, most likely, but no hands-free for the phone (a real pity, IMO, some bluetooth would have been nice in the Premium).

I don't know why you would not buy one of the Pioneer AVIC line instead of the Alpine Scion is selling.
Several here have bought the AVIC D3. Personally I'm thinking pretty strongly about the new AVIC Z2. Several places you can get it with the iPod interface and the Bluetooth module for a little over $1700. You could get the back up camera as well and still be under the price of the Alpine.

The iPod interface on the AVIC line is very slick. I have a friend who has the AVIC Z1 in his truck and it works great. Here is a shot of the iPod view shown on a D3.

The D3 with Bluetooth and iPod connection can be found for under $1000 btw.

I got my AVIC-D3 with the backup camera, the steering wheel control interface, AND two twelve inch subs for only $1005 shipped. Beats the poo out of any of the factory options. The bluetooth kit for that headunit can be had for 135 on ebay.

Default SNS- Scion Nav System

very happy with the SNS. I like the display much better than the example shown here (PIONEER). Also I think it is a much bigger screen (???)

I will be getting an iphone and will hook that up to the ipod cable (scion) for additional music. Since the iphone interupts the ipod when an incoming call comes in during normal operation, I am hoping this will occur when its connect to the IPOD port on the car. We will see....

Waiting on the IPHONE

That's cool and it is a good looking unit. I was just pointing out they are all about the same size.

Getting back to your original question. It sure seems like the iPhone would have the ability to work through the iPod interface.

The interruption of the iPod function of the phone seems like it would be a sure thing. The one thing I'm not sure how it would function is the microphone piece. Unless you are able to utilize the speaker phone function mic I'm not sure how that would get done. We know there is no mic input on the head unit so it would have to be the phone.

Anyway if they have a way for that to happen, it would be slick and make the lack of bluetooth function irrelevant.

Got a brief test with a cousin's iPhone at a birthday party over the weekend.

This was with the stock stereo.

When you plug the iPod jack into the iPhone, it asks you if you want to enter "Airline Mode" which disables the phone. Choose No. It works like a normal iPod from then on until you get a call/text message. At that point, the music pauses and phone use takes over. I didn't have a bluetooth headset available to see how that functioned. After the call is over, playback resumes.

Pretty slick. We're about _this_ close to getting one.

^^ Exactly what he said, and if you have a bluetooth headset you can answer the call without removing the phone. I love it soooo much!! I dont regret shelling out the money for this amazing device!!

iPhone doesn't work in to a car plug in like a regular ipod does. we plugged it into a BMW with factory ipod integration and it didn't work, just says unrecognized device. i am sure it'll be the same on scions and aftermarket until aftermarket comes out with something to compensate.

you can use it on the 08's or 07's with the auxillary input though.,

Um... there's two posts above you with direct evidence saying it works in an '08 xB. The key is to not enter Airline mode when you plug it in.

(now, granted, I didn't actually take a call while it was plugged into the xB as the owner's activation hadn't fully taken effect, but I _did_ receive a text message and it behaved exactly as described.)

tried it and it works great! I think he was worried about it not working properly in airplane mode and didn't bother trying on his BMW.

Rest assured, it works, and it's kind of neat, the ringtone plays over the car speakers, although the speaker phone doesn't . . . unless we did something wrong.

I think this would probably work best with a bluetooth headset as you would still have to pick the phone up to use it and if it's connected in the center console it may not give you enough reach to drive safley.

It works! thanks for the heads up!

iPhone works like a charm hooked up to the SNS (Scion nav Sys). Both my neighbor and I have 2008 xB with the SNS and we bought iPhones and they work great hooked up. We both use BT headsets. he has a Jaw(?) and I have a Moto 605.

music fades as advertised and you take the call....when done hangup and the music comes back

life is good
