I wanted some other opinions...I usually wear boots and find that I have only a 1/4" or so movement on either side of my foot when it's positioned over the gas pedal. sometimes when I'm starting from a stoplight or stop sign I clip the edge of the brake pedal with my right foot because it's so close to the gas.

has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking about getting the racing pedals in hopes that the brake pedal is a bit more narrow and will allow more room. anyone out there with the racing pedals, do you have more lateral room for your right foot?

so far, after 3 weeks, this is my biggest complaint about my tC, and this complaint ain't nothin'. I love my new car!

 

Yeah, the pedals are close together. I have the same problem when wearing my workboots. When I go to get on the gas I usually tap the brakes too. I doubt the racing pedals would work. I believe they fit over the existing rubber pads.

 

Yeah I really agree, it was my only initial gripe with the car. But like all things, you will adjust. I found piviting my foot farther back than normal fixes the problem. I have a size 12 shoe so I can still put the pedal to the floor .

The OBX pedals replace the rubber on brake/clutch, while it goes over the gas pedal.

 

Yeah, that reminded me, a few years back I hopped in my truck to move it wearing motocross boots and nearly wrecked. :oops: I got size 12s also and they wouldnt fit between the pedals.

 

I agree it is too close but every car I hve had, the brake has been too close. So it is not just a "problem" with the tC.

I have that same problem. All manuals seem to have the pedales set up for female drivers (no offense). I wear a size 12 shoe, big to some small to others. I have a PITA time driving any manual. The gas aint to bad, but I have nailed the clutch & brake at the same time .

 

Having the glass pedal too close to the brake pedal is better than having the brake pedal too close to the clutch pedal. *Ahem* BMW Z4. My dad's car is annoying to drive. Everytime you want to shift, you end up braking. Just imagine stepping on the break as hard as you'd step on the clutch and the movement of the car afterwards. Not pretty.

 

They are waaay too close. I'm size 12.5, and I can't wear anything but regular tennis shoes or sandals. Work boots or nice dress shoes, if I wear them, I hit both pedals at the same time.

I've been looking for a local company to modify the pedals for me, but at this point I'm not sure if it's possible.

 

Same problem here, I wear 13s. I can live with it overall, but I dont like wearing certain shoes I own while driving.

 

I wear size 11 biker boots while driving and I've never had a problem with the peddles being too close.... actually, I'd kind of like the gas and brake to be just a little closer. Before anyone says anything, I like to engine break when coming to a stop, so I use all three peddles at the same time and the gas and the break are a tad too far to perform the move comfortably.... just my opinion.

 

Dude its not that bad I wear a size 16 and I can manuver between the two with ease so I don't know what to tell ya but if I can drive with out pressin them both together yall can to and yes I have a 16 size shoe i didnt make a typo...

you guy's complaints are funny. the pedals are close together especially on the 5 speed so you can heel toe better. my foot stays right between both pedals so i can blip the revs while braking. in my opinion this is the proper way to drive a stick. that is why the pedals are closer. makes it easier to drive

 

Do you always wear size 16, or, like, just when you go to clubs.

Anyway, what bshown said, it helps when you heal-toe.

These pedals are close together. :? I got 12's and granted you can adjust while wearing tennis shoes you can't adjust when wearing timberlands or other boot style shoes. The right side of my foot rubs against the carpet and the left clips the brake without fail. Unless you are driving with your tippy toes your going to rub the brake pedal.

 

:?: What the hell is an engine break? Is that a manuever which adds HP to your stopping distance?
