Mine does that sometimes. Not really enough to bother me though. I haven't even bothered asking about it.

you heated them up.. resurface (napa resurfaces fly wheels im sure they can do rotors, the minimum rotor thickness is 26mm if they havent been resurfaced yet then your good to go they are prolly around 27.8ish) and take some sand paper and lightly scuff up the pads..lube behind the pads inbetween the shims and the pads and in the brakets and shims.

Sand the edges of the pads round and try a high speed stop with a lot of brake to warm them up ad burn off impurities from the braking surface.

or we could just warp the rotors...?!?!?! heat them up and go through a huge puddle while slamming your brakes on..they wont squeal but they will pulse? lol just get them resurfaced and sand the pads..i do this on a daily baisis for the customers that are to cheap to buy pads to stop a noise...and plenty of lube thats where u get noise also from the pad brakets to the shims..napa should be able to resurface

I have had a lot of friends get "brake" jobs that were not needed for the tune of $700 when they were not really worn out or were squeeking a little from some dust.

thays why you do it your self.. a 14mm to take the caliper off and a 17 for the pad bracket..if your pads have about 8mm left they are pretty much new so just scuff the surface and either get the rotors cut or see if just scuffin the pads was enough and try some lube where the pads slide into the bracket...try that first if you dont wanna spend 30ish to get them cut. a dealer may cut them to if you bring them in lable the back side where the lug holes are and put them back on try that to...

Would it really benifit to have them resurfaced if they just squeek every once in a while?

When they resurface them they take metal off - shortens the life of the rotor. If they don't need it then don't have it done. Most mechanics that want to make money will resurface them needlessly so unless they are badly scored, have uneven thickness or grabbing unevenly they they don't need to be resurfaced and should be ok. People that are washing their cars too often and spraying water into the wheels to clean the dust are probably causing problems by getting them too wet and washing off the lubrication on the caliper pins. Also a lot of wheel cleaners use phosphoric acid that can etch the rotors if not washed off quickly and it is not recommended to get the cleaner on any of the brake parts.

That is typically a little dampness - I get that and they are really grabby along with a very touchy clutch sometimes too.

BINGO ... this is absolutely correct. Nice Call Jan06xB. I had the same problem with my 01 Celica. If your warranty is still in effect the dealer will lube this. My squealed all the time and after lubrication the squeal was gone. Nothing sounds worse. What ever you do don't resurface your rotors if not needed.

Peace...

Keep your mind on your riches.

I'm sure that just has to do with the pads. AFAIK its not unexpected for pads to make noise when they're cold.

I'm not sure though... I mean, if I'm right, then by the same token higher performance pads which squeal a lot should get a little quieter after they're heated up on the track.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?
