Check Engine Light
the cel can come on for a number reasons, most common is that the gas cap hasn't been properly closed tightly enough. if your car is stock, it should be 100% covered by your warranty, so just take it in and have them pull the code to see what is wrong.
more commonly you get cel's from aftermarket air intakes, or headers.

I wish I could just pop in and have it looked at. I am currently stationed overseas in England. I was hoping it wasn't something serious. I will still take it in to the base garage and see what they find when they plug it. Hope nothing serious. Thanks

if you just hit 5k then it's probably your maint req light (which goes on every 5k miles to remind you of oil changes). Try this, stolen from another thread. Make sure your trip meter is on "odo" instead of "trip A" or "B":
Put your ignition on the "on" position, hold in your odometer switch, start your car, keep holding in the swtich, then it will blink off, once it does your set to go. had the same problem but I went to my toyota dealership to show me, it's really easy

^^Yep that's the CEL.
If your car is otherwise running normally it's nothing to lose sleep over. (If the car runs like crap then you're in limp mode and then you've got something to worry about.)
Just take your car to an autoparts store (I prefer Autozone), or someone you know who has an OBD-II diagnostic code reader. (You could take it to your dealer if they will read the code for free, if not leave. Autozone won't charge you.)
Hook it up to the OBD-II port under the dash, read the code #'s, write it down. Then clear (erase) the code.
Once you know the code you can look it up in the repair manual in the "Tech" section here on ScionLife. Post back up and tell us what you got.
