Default Paint on my TC

The paintjob on my stepdaughter's TC is weak. A few birdcrap stains have set in within a few days, and I suppose that there is nothing to rid them out. You can notice them if you're up close only, but it's frustrating that I can't get rid of them. A couple of them are on the hood. Anyone else have this problem with their factory paint? I tend to wash the car at least once every week.

I will try that, I just hope since the stains are set in that they will come out somehow. Scratch X won't damage the paint anymore, will it?

try using a detailing clay bar. i've had tree sap and wall paint get on my car and the clay bar helps to get those things off. it might work for bird crap also. if you do decide to use the clay bar, go ahead and do the entire car and wax it afterwards, they'll be a noticeable difference afterwards.

well im assuming hes taken off the bird crap, but wants to fix up the etching in the clear coat..

and no damon, scratchx wont ruin anything... just apply some over the affected area, scrub with pressure until it gets hard to spread anymore and then buff it out with a good quality microfiber towel... it can be a pain sometimes, if you still have sticky white spots, spray some alcohol over it and buff again

What wax would you recommend that I use?

well.. i use p21s carnauba wax sometimes and klasse sealant glaze, but thats the kind of stuff you order online...

if you want something from the store that you can just use over the scratch x for a quick protection, use meguiars cleaner wax, it really wont matter

to do the whole car do yourself a favor and get some p21s wax, it's an amazing product

meguiars makes a clay bar kit and it includes a quick detailar spray, clay bar, microfiber tower, and a small bottle of cleaner wax which is good for about 1 or 2 waxes. it runs for about 20.

I'll be the first to admit, my paint gets beat to crap. However, for sap/tar/birdshat, the clay bar has never let me down.

That has nothing to do with "crap paint."

Bird droppings are very acidic and can etch clearcoats in as little as a half hour.

I have bird craps on my car once in a while, but I never have this problem. THe bird crap can sits on my paint for days, and when I washed it, it is a bit persistent, but it comes off without leaving trace. My car is kept in a garage, so it probably doesn't have the full exposure to the sun.

no... you guys arent understanding... (paul seems to get it though )

the bird crap will come off no problem with some soapy water or as some like to use, clay... but the clear coat has been damaged by the acidity of the droppings...

if you take a look at your paint in the sun where a bird dropping used to be, you will see horrible etching... you really need to use a polisher to get rid of it, but most people dont have that so the next best thing is an abrasive hand polish like scratch x

Good news. If you have this problem just after buying the car, in my case 2 months, the dealer will fix it no fee under warantee. I went to the dealer and the guy said yeah it comes like that from the factory and we will fix it no problem. so thats good news for me!
