I saw a kid holding a sign like that a couple weeks ago. And across the street his buddy was filming it. I busted up laughing when I read it, and he was having a very hard time keeping a straight face.

Speaking of signs…..

A buddy and I were driving around, and pulled up to some hot chick holding a sign, “vehicle broke down, stranded, need money for lodging”. Just about everyone in front of me was handing her bills, my friend even pulled out $10 for me to give her. At the next intersection, there was a guy holding the exact same sign. Hardly anyone was giving him anything. I gave him a couple bucks of change that was in my cup-holder. I think it must have been hilarious when they met up to count their take. She probably had a wad of cash, and he probably had a pocketful of change.

I like it when they are straight forward. Once saw a sign that was so long that you could barely read the small print. By the time you’re done reading it, you’re already passing them and can’t slow down to give them anything.

Occasionally I feel like telling them, “go down that way about a half mile. Look for the dude holding the sign for Mattress World, go inside and ask the manager if you can hold that sign tomorrow.”

A guy came up to us on Halloween while I was living in Chicago...
He walked up and said: "You guys like my Halloween costume? I'M A BUM!" That was awesome. I think he got 20 bucks collectively from us.

I had another guy threaten to "cut my fkn throat" because I didn't have any change though...

I heard on the radio about some bum in Portland that went off on a lady because she gave him a hamburger (one from a restaurant) and he didn't like pickles.

I'm sure it's in every city but there are people in Atlanta who make a good living by doing this crap. It's because of them I don't give anyone money. I can't stand being hassled by every stupid pity story the moment I walk out of the building.

though these guys do deserve some money for creativity.

I saw a guy in Augusta with a sign that stated:

"Hey wuz up? My name is Ron and I need help or a ride to..."

I didnt get to finish reading it because I was driving by. But wtf! Does he expect people to be more drawn to him because he said "wuz up"(and yes it was spelled that way) and introduced himself via cardboard
