Question. Looking at the Corolla "S" and the Xa. How can they both get the same MPG though the "S" is a bigger engine and a little bigger car?
Thanks.
Kevin
Thanks.

Kevin dinkjs 12-17-2003, 09:46 PM It can be based on alot of things really.....like different size gas tanks....by the way....how many gallons does the xA and xB hold?????? Rhobz 12-17-2003, 10:01 PM Size of the gas tank has nothing to do with miles per gallon...only miles between fill-ups. But horsepower and gearing has a lot to do with mileage. scionaraxb 12-17-2003, 10:04 PM It can be based on alot of things really.....like different size gas tanks....by the way....how many gallons does the xA and xB hold??????     its_ikon 12-17-2003, 10:09 PM both cars are geared as economy cars. most cars don'e really get the mpg the sticker says. Atleast mine does ;) its_ikon 12-18-2003, 01:24 AM both cars are geared as economy cars. most cars don'e really get the mpg the sticker says. The Scion does. Most manufacturers MPG ratings are under the EPA's. Like the New Prius, they are not getting 60MPG's some are getting 45 MPGS. I read it on Edmunds or Autoweek. its_ikon 12-21-2003, 06:51 PM Not a lot of people know this, including me, but it is ILLEGAL for Car manufacturers reveal their estimated MPG and must only display the EPA MPG. I read it on Edmunds or Autoweek. the way a person drives greatly impacts the mpg a car will get. i am getting good mpg in a matrix xrs, but i also don't drive it hard. i will about once or twice a week. the prius can get 60 mpg, but it is realistically about 50-55. Ramone 02-12-2004, 12:38 PM am considering buying the xA. drive 115 highway miles per day. avg between 70-80 mph. what kind of mpg should i expect. am also considering the CAI which i was told would kill about 2 mpg. jackmott 02-12-2004, 02:37 PM Question. Kevin because bigger engines don't really make mileage all that much worse! the scion is geared pretty short for getting off from a start quick, I bet the corrolla has gas friendly gearing jackmott 02-12-2004, 02:37 PM Question. I highly reccomend not listening to random people about cars, and yeah, I know that ought to include me. Read up on how cars work and you can tell when people are full of crap. a cold air intake just makes it easier to pull air into the engine. thats nothing that would hurt mileage. aimeeXa 02-12-2004, 06:19 PM am considering buying the xA. drive 115 highway miles per day. avg between 70-80 mph. what kind of mpg should i expect. am also considering the CAI which i was told would kill about 2 mpg. i drive about the same distance a day, about 1/2 stop & go & 1/2 avg. 70 mph. i have the AEM CAI. i'm getting about 32 mpg bluexA 02-13-2004, 01:15 AM Speaking of this stuff... I noticed that the xA made it in the top 12 list of the "greenest cars in 2004." see here: http://www.greenercars.com/12green.html "...lists the top models having the highest Green Scores overall."
