Default Avic D3 or wait?

Should I go ahead and pull the trigger on an Avic D3 or should I wait for something else that is on the way? D3 looks like a good all-around unit with good expansionability (if that's such a word).. The only thing that looks disappointing is no future for a HD Radio expansion? I already have a TomTom GPS unit which has been great to me.. I don't necessarily have to get GPS in my headunit.. is there a non-GPS unit for less that does more?

id say, wait for it... panasonic just came out with their own version but it has its own hard drive... i bet pioneer will be coming out their own version that has HD in it and all the necessary maps are loaded and it will be able to update the maps. i have an avic n1 and it desperately needs an upgrade, so i will be waiting for new stuff to come out within a few months.

Clarion has a double din that you could get for 600. Nav is separate. I would of bought that if I didn't need nav.

the d3 has always been msrp 1000.

if you already have nav, just get a normal deck like the 7800 or the 9800bt (i forgot the exact numbers).

the only gripe i have is the low voltage output it has. both the 78 and the 98 have 5v outputs

i say get a single din deck

If you want a D3, let me know and I'll get one for you at a killer price with kit and harness shipped. And I can get you all of the accessories you want.

Any other non-gps that have full expandability out there for under $1000? D3 still looking like a good all-around unit.. I just wish they had a module for HD radio.

i have a d3 and i love it but it was bought mostly because the Panasonic Strada wasnt out yet. Right after i installed it the Strada came out. thats nice but still costs quite a bit more than a D3 which is really the best bang for the buck

How does the D3 sound with the stock speakers? Is it worth an upgrade on the speakers too?

any headunit upgrade is better than the stock. in all honesty the stock speakers aren't bad they just need a little more power and a better unit will do that

That's the answer I was hoping for. The stock speakers seem pretty decent. It just seems like the stock headunit needs to be putting out some more power.

Also does the D3 have the ability to have an iPod and an auxiliary hooked up to it simultaneously? Like the Scion branded Pioneer stock headunit for approx. $250 with delivery of a new Scion?
