Default Newby checking in just bought XA 3.0 Release edition

Hello,
I am new to these cars have been looking for about a week now for a good commuter car to buy. This year in Jan I just traded my 2005 Kia Spectra5 hatchback for a 2007 Dodge Nitro big mistake the kia got on average 28 MPG and the dodge 19-20 MPG.

Well due to me being in the military (U.S. Navy) and I commute about 90 miles round trip a day and the gas prices being what they are (Damn Oil Company's holding us hostage through legal Extortion) I needed to buy another car and just park the Nitro.

Anyways I just bought this one off ebay.

I think I did pretty good for the price. What you all think? Even thou it has been in an accident and repaired I will be driving it just the same and who could pass up only 599 miles on it?

I had been looking at the diesel Jettas, New diesel beetles, and even a used Honda Insight. But the VW's seems to be prone to allot of problems. And the insight would not want to have to replace those batteries down the road. So I decided to buy the XA instead.

1. Now first question I have is how many RPM's do these thing run at doing 75-80 on the interstates with the automatics?

2. What do you all average MPG wise at higher freeway speeds?

3. What the heck is a keyless security system with a radar intrusion sensor?

Anyway glad to be aboard and I will be picking up my car this Monday.

Take care Matt

Default Welcome

Welcome to the board, it looks like you saved about 6k dollars buying the salvaged car. Looks good in the pictures, we almost bought an rs3, but could not afford it. Congrats on a great car purchase.

1. About 3500 rpm's
2. 35-40 mpg
3. It's the factory keyless entry system with integrated alarm, which comes standard on the rs3, but is an option on the base car. You also get sat. radio already installed.

My xA sits pretty comfy at about 3300rpm in the 75-80mph range...not quite 3500. But that's nitpicking.

My car brand new was $16k sticker, so you did save quite a bit with that one. I've already put over 1200 miles on my car in about a month and it's doing great on gas.

One more thing...on the eBay auction I noticed that car does not come with the kenstyle kit, most likely because it was salvaged eh?

Car with the Kenstyle kit.

Default yea

Yea, it looks like the rear wing only was left. That's because you have the kenstyle kit, more aerodynamic equals less wind resistance equals lower rpms at a given speed^^^^^

Car with the Kenstyle kit.
Thanks for the info and pointing that out about the missing the kenstyle kit. I had not noticed. The only difference I can see between the ebay car and the pic's of this car is the car I bought is missing the front and rear lower airdams? Is that correct? I may replace it down the road more than likely thou not as I did buy the car to have for commuting.

But after seeing all the aftermarket stuff for these cars. Daddy just might have to play with some mod's. Keep it down and low so the wife does not get wind of this envision of mine.

I sure appreciate the info and cant wait to pick-up the little car.

Lots of members having to deal with installing "covert" mods on their cars. ie. adding mods that go inside or out of sight during normal use...like springs/intakes/strut bars/ and maybe exausts?

Welcome to the family...

I have no idea what these guys are talking about....I just don't buy my mods... I trade for them..."No honey, I traded with this guy for that..." I just traded money, but those are just details...
