View Full Version : Megan Racing S-Pipe
tlonas 05-22-2007, 01:35 AM I just got the megan racing s-pipe and it wont bolt up to the factory mid-pipe. Has anyone else had this problem? I dont know if its a good idea to cut off the pipe sticking past the flange that bolts up to the mid-pipe or not
Mugetsu 05-22-2007, 02:03 AM What??!! hey man check to see what "S pipe"you bought...
there are 2, one is the S pipe that bolts on to the rear part of the MID pipe, AND then theres the S pipe which is really the DOWN pipe that bolts in between the "header" and the MID pipe.
tlonas 05-22-2007, 02:06 AM i bought the down pipe not the mid pipe.
tlonas 05-22-2007, 02:16 AM The pipe itself sticks out past the flange. It will not slide into the stock mid pipe so the two flanges wont bolt together.
Mugetsu 05-22-2007, 02:17 AM your gonna kick yourself...
flip the stupid thing OVER!!
wait no what are you talking about the Down pipe shouldn't have any pipe sticking past nothing.
one end should have a "inverted" flange for the flex flange and the other a straight flat flange.
tlonas 05-22-2007, 02:19 AM i dont think its backwards because the gasket from the header fits right into the pipe like it should.
Mugetsu 05-22-2007, 02:21 AM OOH then you might have a messed up one were they accidently welded the flange to far back...
send it back! or if you cut it will it still reach the mid pipe?
Mugetsu 05-22-2007, 02:24 AM I gotta go bro, but it deff sounds like you have a messed up down pipe
prob a machine error. its up to you... send back or risk cutting BUT once you do its yours regardless that it was a manufactures defect.
choose wisely...
tlonas 05-22-2007, 02:24 AM Yea I think it will. I just wanted to make sure it will still seal right by cutting it off and if it was welded on to far back. Do you have it installed on your car?
Mugetsu 05-22-2007, 02:27 AM Naw I have an INVIDIA a thing of beauty lol
I was just trying to help you out.
tlonas 05-22-2007, 02:29 AM Thanks for the help. I think I might call them up and see what they say.
05FMXtC 05-22-2007, 03:16 AM I have a megan s-pipe and it was a tight fit. It's def not in the same position as the stock one. i had to push it up more into the bottom of the car but it all worked out....
boostaddict 05-23-2007, 02:09 AM Naw I have an INVIDIA a thing of beauty lol
I was just trying to help you out.
i want a megan, but invidia is some good sh*&..how do you like yours?
Mugetsu 05-23-2007, 05:12 PM Its probably the biggest of the Down pippes for the TC, the first batch had the O2 bung in the same spot as the stock and caused some problems fitting the antifouler mods for those with a header, BUT i think that was either fixed or no longer an issue with the 07 tc's slightly different manifold.
its great though a bit over kill. great fitment and it doesn't hang too low like i hear the ZPI one does.
boostaddict 05-25-2007, 10:54 PM mugetsu: what exhaust mods do you have then? the invidia Spipe....and is it raspy?
Mugetsu 05-25-2007, 11:33 PM I have WR SRI which i'm switching this weekend for a Bo Bo 2.75" ebay CAI. LOL gonna give that a try. Alpha Header/Invidia down pipe/ and Tsudo N1 cat back.
I'm running this thing "inside" my mid pipe called a CC insert, which its basically a resonated velocity stack, it brings down sound levels by 5 to 7 decibles and kills rasp. And only creates a very small bit of back pressure, and considering i'm pretty much running an straight through exhaust that lil bit of back pressure is welcomed.
so with the combination of the insert and the 18" resonator and 10" canister muffler on the tsudo, my car sounds pretty good, it has avery agressive roar at start up then a low growl at idle a medium growl at partiall throttle and a loud roar at WOT.
I think i might have 2 small leaks 1 on both of the flex joint flanges (i'm using both stock gaskets) that open up briefly on hard throttle and give me a lil bit of rasp when i gun it.
i'm also going under there this weekend with a tube of RTV red compound to make a quarter or half an inch seat under both donut gaskets to see if this will take care of the leaks. Only then will i know if my exhaust is trully rasp free.
another reason i'm looking forward to switching the SRI with a CAI is that the WR gets really loud at WOT around 5 to 6K i mean it rumbles to the point that it rattles the change in my ashtray and actually vibrates the whole front dash.
NightShade 05-26-2007, 02:45 AM was wondering can you give a pic on the CC insert? Am in need for something to lower the db on my tanabe concept g. its too deep for me and want to try it out before i get a second resonator.
Mugetsu 05-28-2007, 09:56 PM Are you serious bro?! do you have a header and S pipe? or just the tanabe axleback?
The tanabe concept G is prob the closest to greddy's evo2 which i had on a stock exhaust manifold and pipe, its prob a tad bit loud at WOT but nothing that would alert the cops.
any who the inserts are originally made for domestic muscle cars and track use, they have to be welded on, mine works as a bolt on for my set up because the tsudo mid pipe uses a 3 bolt flange and they make an insert that is made for headers that use a 3 bolt flange. ALSO it only works with the tsudo cause the tsudo uses USA specs pipe diameter, which is what all the inserts are made in. not in metric japan specs.
sorry bro...it won't work with the stock mid pipe.
your best bet would have to be the RESONATOR or to switch to a quieter axleback like Megan's OE styled or Tanabe's OE styled medallion, or greddy's sp2...etc...
ack154 05-28-2007, 10:13 PM What??!! hey man check to see what "S pipe"you bought...
there are 2, one is the S pipe that bolts on to the rear part of the MID pipe, AND then theres the S pipe which is really the DOWN pipe that bolts in between the "header" and the MID pipe.
WTF? Where do you get this idea that there are "two" spipes??
The only spipe/downpipe is after the header before the midpipe. There are only 4 pieces to our exhaust: header -> spipe -> midpipe -> axleback. There is nothing else.
Mugetsu 05-28-2007, 11:35 PM :ttth: :loser: :blah: :come:
You get all of them at once FOOL.
the TC's Down pipe is called and S pipe by some, why? you got me but when manufactures do it you can't argue to much.
on mid pipes like megan's tsudo's skunk2 etc...the mid pipe is made out of 2 pieces the front part is short straight pipe and the second is a n S shaped pipe known as an S-pipe...hmm...wanna get your foot out ya mouth there G...and my foot out cha A$$.
ack154 05-28-2007, 11:39 PM Please...gtfo. You can do whatever you want with your foot.
Get your posts straight. This guy is asking about an spipe for (likely) a stock setup and you're bringing in some other stuff about what might be considered an spipe for a totally aftermarket setup? Right.
Like I said. There is only one spipe. It's between the header and the midpipe. Period.
Mugetsu 05-28-2007, 11:43 PM Keep talking, you just look stup1der and stup1der... :loser:
ack154 05-28-2007, 11:45 PM You're a moron. Srsly.
Mugetsu 05-28-2007, 11:50 PM WTF? Where do you get this idea that there are "two" spipes??
The only spipe/downpipe is after the header before the midpipe. There are only 4 pieces to our exhaust: header -> spipe -> midpipe -> axleback. There is nothing else.
sorry dude but if you come in to a thread shooting your mouth off trying to sound smart with out knowing the dilly, you get played like a fool.
TIP: read, think, form opinion, think, form responce, think then speak.
and he was talking about a MEGAN aftermarket pipe...
ack154 05-28-2007, 11:57 PM He was talking about an aftermarket spipe, yes. But where you get this idea that any other exhaust component for the tC is referred to as an spipe is beyond me. The one between the header and midpipe is the ONLY one that anyone else would recognize as an spipe. You're rambling on about some other piece that YOU might call an spipe but no one else would recognize as such.
And whether you want to believe me or not, I know more about this car than you do. I guarantee it. You can try to make yourself look like whatever you want, but you're wrong... and trying to prove otherwise is just dumb.
I'm done here. Think whatever you want.
Mugetsu 05-29-2007, 12:40 AM Riiiggghhhttt...see thats the problem with Idgits like you, You believe in that tiny lil head of yours the you know everything and that you can never be wrong...even when you are.
every one that has a tsudo or megan mid pipe refers to the second pipe as an S-pipe, BUT just because YOU don't it makes it wrong...hmm...that tiny pathetic lil ego of yours sure needs plenty of reassuring to make you believe you "know more about this car than any one else" yes it was a mistake on my part AN HONEST UNDERSTANDABLE mistake that I realized and corrected my self, because my ego isn't so pathetically inflated that i'm beyond such a thing.
Admit it(fight your lilboy ego) you came in here read my post didn't bother to read the rest tried to sound smart by stating the obvious and got made a fool of.
so i guess you are done here...
