Default Yakima roof rack

Did they change the roof and door design from the 06 to 08. Yakima does not have the 08 specs to tell me if the 06 clips will work.

well the '08 xB is 3-4 inches wider now. I am not sure if the mountings on the rack are adjustable.

The xB2 is wider than the xB1, and the design of the roof edge and door head is not identical. Yakima might need to revise their design to fit properly. Or maybe the old mounts will work and they have not updated their application list yet. Here's the rack on an xB1 so you can compare to the xB2.

As you can see from my 06, the 58" bars extend at least 2 - 3" beyond the towers on each side so the length of the bar should be enough for the o8xB. The clips however and the measurements between bars and from the windshield to the front bar will most certainly be different. Better wait until the Yakima folks work out the details.

Why not just drop down the rear seats, put two kayaks sticking out the back and if anyone asks, tell them you're trying to make your xB look like an old Cadillac with the long fins, LOL

i would suggest just getting longer cross bars. what you could do is go to a place like REI and test fit it. they'll let you do that kind of stuff, they have great customer service. that's where i got my rack '

good luck and let us know what works.

Yup. I did. See the previous posting. You must follow the directions carefully espcially about getting the measurements right and assembling each one of the pair on a flat surface. There's no way of getting around the two. Take your time (allow at least an hour, maybe more) to get it right. Good luck.

I have some 58 inch cross bars...are those long enough. Also I called Yakima to see what chips I would need and they told me that they don't have any that will fit yet. They said it won't be until another couple of months.

I think most of us are talking about the Gen 1 xB. If you have the '08 xB, that is correct. Yakima does not have the attachement clips for it yet. 58" bars fit on the Gen 1 xB and extend beyond the towers (see my red xB pic above.). They may fit the new xB even though it is somewhat wider.
