For those of you that have installed carbon fiber kits for the exterior, a couple questions:

Did you remove the blackout tape around your doorframes before you applied the kit or did you apply the kit to taped areas?

Did you use any adhesion promoters before sticking the pieces on?

Any fitment problems? Any pieces fall off after install? Anybody in the position of having to order a single piece to replace one that fell off?

Any experiences that anyone can share would be appreciated...

Are you looking to do an aftermarket piece or go with something from the dealer. I've actually got something from each. Scion did the b and c pillars. Those went on over the tape, no problems of course. I had some mirror surrounds made from edashkit.com's exterior kit. They went directly went on to the plastic. I did add some adhesion promoter, as the surface wasn't exactly perfectly flat, but they went on well, and I've had no problems with them for over 3 months now. Hope this helps!

Let me rephrase the question:

IF you were going to apply a carbon fiber kit to the door frame of your xB, would you remove the frame tape first or just apply the kit right on the tape?

I would just do it over the tape. You shouldnt have any issues. Good luck and post some pics when your done!!
