Default question for you guys...

On Thursday my car (an 05 Mazda3) was totaled when a kid in a Dodge Ram pickup rear ended my car and set off a 5 car accident...needless to say, I'm going to be getting a new car soon and the tC is a serious consideration of mine (when I bought the 3 back in 05 it was either that or the tC).

The 3 I had was Black Mica in color. But for the Scion, I'm not sure which I like more, the Super White or SBP tC's....I just wanted to know if anyone else had this dilemma when choosing the color of their tC...and what you chose, and if you picked one would you rather have the other now?

Silly question I know, but I'm curious.

well...one serious limitation is what colors the dealerships actually have on the lots...then which transmission do you want...

then decide from there which color you'd prefer to cordinate with when you start customizing it.

I would go white. The tC looks awesome in white and hooked up, looks amazing.

Dont let the dealer talk you into what he wants you to drive, pick a color and wait for it if you need to.

well to answer you both...im getting an auto transmission, theres about 8 scion dealerships withing 20 miles from me so that wont be a big deal.

i'm probably not buying a brand new one, my mazda was brand new and it just winds up costing too much, im probably going to get an 05 or 06...i dont think the 05 comes in black though right?

i like black cars more too, so i was leaning towards that but i like the white ones too. theres a bunch of each car for sale in my area. another question though, do all the cars come with the blue inserts in the seats? all the black ones ive looked at seem to, but the white ones have grey/black (id MUCH rather have that)

05 tc's were offered in black sand pearl. also, scions are pure pricing, so it is usually best to get a new one because used ones seem to go for more than used ones. next up, if you get a used one, be very careful because you might be buying somebodies messed up project car that they screwed up on.

you think it could be considered a messed up project if the car was one of the cert pre-owned ones? i was going to get it from a toyota delaership

its hard to tell. Alot of people have heavily modded their cars and return them to stock. But i think this would go for any brand across the board. I love the whole new car, i know where it has been deal. Find a dealership you trust, i guess.

most certified pre-owned just have some minimal inspections done to make sure wheels are pointed straight and the car starts. also, calling it a cert pre-own lets them charge more for it. dealership cert pre-owned are no better than just buying a car as is.

now factory cer pre-owned is different. anyway, since the tc came around in 05, they should have existing warranties unless they have exceeded their mileage.

and i'm just highly suspect of buying used cars because you have no idea what the car has been through. i just kinda like that since i bought my tc new, i know that between being built and delivered, i know nearly everything that has gone on inside it. peace of mind.

also, it is usually cheaper to finance a new car than a used car because used cars are higher risk, or so i'm told.

believe me id love to get a new car, but i cant afford to put down a big payment to start out with, the used ones are about 3k cheaper.

the kbb on my mazda was 16k, but i SERIOUSLY doubt im going to get that much for it. And i still owe 11k on it so that much is going straight to mazda.

you dont need to put a downpayment. just finance the whole thing. I walked out with my tC with out handing over a single penny and no trade in. Even rolled all the fees into it. I have good credit, so that might have helped.

Well I have the BSP and it looks great, but cleaning it is a pain in the butt and keeping it clean is worse. You wash it, then two seconds later you have to dust it. I would still choose BSP over white.

did you get gap insurance when you bought your mazda 3? if you did, the gap insurance will cover the remaining balance between what you get and what you owe. if you didn't get gap insurance...well, i can only offer you my pity and hope you learn to always get it in the future.

how much are your monthly payments though?

with the mazda i put 2k down and then only had to pay 225 a month. i have a feeling the tc is going to be a lot more.

okay then, so you have gap insurance, therefore, you will owe nothing on your mazda 3 regardless of what the kbb is or whatever, if you don't get back more than you owe, it will go back to zero, and you will owe nothing.

also, tc's aren't much more expensive than a mazda 3. not harder to insure either.

oh, and if you taking more suggestions on color, silver tc's are the best. bar none.

yeah see 340 is way too much for me...

...and yeah i kind of know how gap ins works, i was just hoping to maybe get something close to the kbb of my car, or at least something thats enough to put money down for on the tC. like 2k, because i'm SOL if i dont.

its pretty crappy how insurance works. my family wants to take this kid to court over what happened. he rearended my car going about 45mph, never tried to stop. he hit me so hard that i hit the car infront of me, and they hit the one infront of them etc, until 5 cars were involved total. the kid whos 18, said his shirt blew up into his face and he couldnt see (aka he was on his phone/texting)...and how does your shirt blow into your face if you ave your seatbelt on??

my mazda pretty much crushed, windows blew out, my trunk is basically in my backseat, alignment of the WHOLE car is thrown off, rear axle snapped, but i made it out safe. i guess thats all that really matters in the end.

i just wish it hadnt happened, i have to lay out more money because this idiot cant drive.

oh, and im really not a fan of silver cars, i think theyre boring hah.
