I just want to politely state your buying a Scion which is also known as an economical car. If you want a moonroof, heated seats and other standard features, you may be looking at the wrong car.

A Lexus would suit your "needs" much better, but seeing as how your screenname is CheapChick, you're probably SOL!

I've heard worse reasons for not buying a car.

My wife and I really like ours.

The original poster is so right, you should go and buy the other car with those features at the Xb2 price.

I am going to ask to take one out on the highway for an hour or two and see if the automatic is good enought.

I was just disapointed that it did not get the same 5 speed auto ot CVT trans i read about.

I sill like the car...and can do with a sunroof...hahah..

Put it this way, 4-spd Auto's are tried and tested. They will last longer than a 5-spd most likely since they have been in car's since the 80's.

Moonroof's can be installed aftermarket.

Heated seats? Unless you are putting leather in there, why the hell would you need heated seats.

I purchased the automatic (since my wife can't drive manual) and it has more than enough performance (even better if you use the sequential shift function). The power of the new engine makes all the difference. When I test drove the first gen xB I felt like I "needed" a manual transmission if I wanted reasonable performance. When I test drove the new xB with auto trans I was amazed how quickly the vehicle got up to speed.

As for aftermarket sunroof's, the only aftermarket sunroof I ever put on a car (back in the late 90s) developed a leak in a little over a year. I had to keep my car covered/garaged when it rained if I didn't want water in the driver's seat. Many people have had great experiences with aftermarket sunroof's so you might be fine. I just don't care for them anymore.

As for heated seats, I was amazed at how quickly the xB's AC cooled down the almost 90-degree interior on the level 2 setting when I drove home from the dealership. I suspect that the heater will perform just as well ... so you won't have a cold rear end for long. (Why did that sound like a dirty come-on line? )

I agree but in Wisconsin I promise there are plenty of people who would like heated seats without having to get leather. I have never seen it done and it seems like it would be inadvisable. Doesn't stop people (especially women) from wishing they could get it.

I can definitely imagine that people in SE Texas would have no interest in heated seats of any kind. Well at least about 360 days a year.

As to the after market sunroofs you can do the same thing with the interior. My wife loves heated seats and her 2006 Prius has after market leather with heated seats.

Well, we have another make of car with heated seats and a 4-speed auto. Heated seats are over-rated; besides, one seat died after the warranty expired, and it will cost $500 to take the seat apart and replace the heating grid. As for 60 mph, it's 3.8L engine is only turning 1500 rpm so there's a car that is not buzzy. And I doubt that the big 2.4L in the new xB2 will be considered buzzy.
And sunroofs can be added to the xB - here's the one I added for $1250:

That could be a problem with cheap aftermarket sunroofs that hinge up and down, and rely on the condition of a rubber seal and how tightly it is clamped. The kind of sliding sunroofs that new car dealers sell, such as Webasto or Inalfa, do not rely on seals for watertightness. Their seals must slide, are felt covered, and are not completely watertight. The sunroof frame has a perimeter gutter to collect weepage, and a drain hose at each corner. In other words, good sunroofs are made to leak. The sunroof in my 2006 xB is the second Webasto that I have owned. My first Webasto in a 1992 Buick lasted 13 years, until I sold the car, without a single problem.
