I was wondering is it hard to install it by your self ? tks xhrhx15x 05-29-2007, 07:07 PM there is a post already about this, but i cannot find it. basically it is really simple to install one on your own. i have even heard of guys installing with vehicle grade 2 face tape and having no problems with it being loose. i am prolly gonna get one and install it myself too. kyleng 05-29-2007, 09:20 PM really ? what web site did u find it ? there is a post already about this, but i cannot find it. basically it is really simple to install one on your own. i have even heard of guys installing with vehicle grade 2 face tape and having no problems with it being loose. i am prolly gonna get one and install it myself too. xhrhx15x 05-29-2007, 09:24 PM its posted on here somewhere. Withaquicknes 05-30-2007, 06:39 AM Its easy to install, Id hit the dealer up to see if thats the best price, i thought they were cheaper at the dealer, they order it already painted and it comes with all the hardware. kyleng 05-31-2007, 05:11 AM coo coo. so u got ur installed ? i found it online and they suggest me to buy the installation guide ! what kind of tools you need to install it ? quote="Withaquicknes"]Its easy to install, Id hit the dealer up to see if thats the best price, i thought they were cheaper at the dealer, they order it already painted and it comes with all the hardware.[/quote] roXor_boXor 05-31-2007, 06:13 AM I don't think they are selling the install guide but it says it comes with one. I know Sparks is selling/ recommending the install kit with the wing. Maybe that what you mean? I ordered the wing and Sparks install kit and they shipped today. I can tell you by next week what I get and if I can/ did install it successfully. :nails: kyleng 05-31-2007, 07:04 AM coo coo. post some pixs ! i m getting my xb next week ! It's very lightweight and it comes with the installation instructions and some stickers to assist with mounting it... kyleng 06-01-2007, 01:04 AM coo coo. how much u got it from ? and who ? have you install it yet ? how was it ? post some pics ? tks man = ) I received mine from the eBay auction last night. It's very lightweight and it comes with the installation instructions and some stickers to assist with mounting it... Malibu_Rapper 06-04-2007, 04:42 AM I got it with some springs and the bumper protector. Forgot how much but it was almost $300 as I recall, just search ebay for 2008 xb. I installed it this weekend, looks great. don't even think about installing it without the kit. You have to drill in the right place and if your holes are off it won't be perfect. The instructions were terrible for how to tape the templates on. I used a transfer punch and a unibit to drill the holes. I can't think of doing it any other way. Peeling the molding tape so it will stick was a pain! Installation is not exactly easy. But the spoiler is nice and light and fits perfect. kyleng 06-04-2007, 08:21 PM wow, u have to drill holes ? that sounds scary man ! hahahaa...but the color matches ur car color rite ? post pixs ??? tks I got it with some springs and the bumper protector. It comes painted from Toyota, what do you expect? Here are the holes you have to drill. If you don't put the template on right, you are screwed. The key is to align the bump in the template to the bump on the cargo door. The closer it is to the top edge, the better. I had to adjust one of my holes so that it was closer to the top edge of the door. http://www.pldlawyers.com/bp/scion/xb2/spoiler/xb2-spoiler-09.JPG http://www.pldlawyers.com/bp/scion/xb2/spoiler/xb2-spoiler-07.JPG eight08customs 06-05-2007, 09:35 AM damm screw drillin those holes.. just use 3m double sided tape like the after market wings. and trust me it will hold with just doouble sided tape. roXor_boXor 06-05-2007, 12:20 PM On one hand I agree with you Marshall. Nothing worse than drilling holes in your new car. :( But on the other hand there are three things that make me think I'll just do the holes. 1. If you don't drill it you have to cut one stud off each side of the wing that is embedded in the wing inside a concave surface. That would be a pain. 2. In my area with an annual temperature range of 95 degrees or so down to around -20 degrees (on rare occasions even colder) I have concerns about the tape alone being OK in a repeating temp cycle like that. 3. Once I put it on I will never change to anything else. If I do, odds are the holes won't matter. Since every xB with that wing installed at port or at the dealer will have those holes, any aftermarket wing that replaces this one on top of the rear door will probably make sure it uses them or at least covers them up. Malibu_Rapper 06-05-2007, 06:43 PM roXor_boXor is exactly right. Cutting off the studs with the bolts is a bigger pain than drilling. roXor_boXor 06-06-2007, 01:14 AM roXor_boXor is exactly right. Cutting off the studs with the bolts is a bigger pain than drilling. What? You don't have the temperature variations too?? :ponder: Nice pics btw Malibu. If I wasn't getting my templates tomorrow I could probably use the dimensions printed on yours and get it on without a problem. kyleng 06-06-2007, 07:15 AM lookin good man. btw, the templates come with the instruction rite ? do u know it i order it from trdsparks, will it come with it ? I believe i tossed the templates. But I find it hard to believe that is all you get with the kit for $24. Maybe that install kit has the 2 screws, 2 nuts, and nut cover. I have the instructions still... kyleng 06-07-2007, 11:39 PM tks for your reply man. but what you mean is the rear spoiler does NOT come with the screws, nuts, and instruction ? that mean we must buy the installation kit ? wow..very nice pixs man. tks. but the instuction cost $24 ? wow.....for just 2 templates ? do you think you can scan it and post it here ? so everyone can use it and save money = ) that will be great. Insureit1 06-08-2007, 02:17 AM The $429 includes the installation and is exactly what I paid. I know I could have bought it cheaper on line but I din't want to mess with the installation. BTW the spoiler really adds to the look of the car. Malibu_Rapper 06-08-2007, 06:27 AM Hmm, you know what? I'm thinking that install kit I paid for was just the drilling templates and the instructions. The reason is, I found the tube that it came in. And I clearly remember the only thing in the tube were the templates and the instructions. But perhaps that's the profit maker for the guys selling it on the web. I'll try to PDF the instructions. But the templates are in a garbage dump somewhere decomposing by now. roXor_boXor 06-08-2007, 11:33 AM My thought was that having the instructions and templates separate saves Toyota money since they don't have to put out a set with every spoiler and the dealers/ distributors can reuse one set over and over making more money too. You figure at port the cost on the spoiler is under $200 plus about 15 minutes to install it (after doing a couple), they are making a nice chunk of change on them for sure. Even with the $24 extra, it comes out to under $300 from Sparks. Saving $130 over the dealer/ port installed option still sounds pretty good to me. VVT-I_Driven 06-08-2007, 09:34 PM Looks dope with the spoiler! daddyeo 03-22-2008, 08:16 PM Looking for the 2008 factory xB spoiler for less than the dealer. Look on eBay under seller TOYOTAMALL1, Ijust bought a spoiler for my xB2 Release Series 5 in the factory gold color for $279.50 with the factory installation kit. Daarken 03-28-2008, 05:03 AM i just picked mine up from newscionparts.com total was like $275+50 shipping.. and it does not come with the installations or templates, only the hardware. I am going to call them and _____ them out, because I specially called and asked about it, and the guy told me on the phone it was included. All the other spoilers are $290 and include the kit in the price. TrevorS 04-05-2008, 02:29 AM Its easy to install, Id hit the dealer up to see if thats the best price, i thought they were cheaper at the dealer, they order it already painted and it comes with all the hardware. I paid the $420 "Pure Price" to have it installed when I picked it up. I wasn't comfortable drilling those external holes, plus, I was having trouble identifying it aftermarket. I ended up getting that and the rear bumper applique at purchase, everything else has been post-purchase and other vendors:)! |
