How do I know if my xB has a "Parallel Flow" or a "Multi Flow" condensor? Can you tell by looking at the condensor itself? The aftermarket parts distributor I'm attempting to buy from needs this information as they offer more than one number. The VIN didn't answer the question for them. And, can you tell the manufacture date (down to the month) via the VIN?

Not by the vin but there is a tag that says what month/year it was manufactured in the driver side door jam. Hpoe this helps you narrow it down and good luck!

It looks like that will help - because if I recall - my build date Jan 05 leaves only one option. The later O5 dates available still leave it open for the paralles vs multi options.
In the mean time I'm going to give an epoxy fix a try. I figure for the cost of the alluminum epoxy "free" and a few dollars of R134 I won't be out much :lalala:

ThanksAgainThe only repair that might work would be to have it tig welded. Not to mention the reciever dryer will need to be replaced because it gets contaminated from the outside air humidity. Also, system needs to be put on a vacuum to remove said humidity.

Ah. Are you telling me - if I go with a replacement condenser - its not just a matter of bolt out the old and bolt in the new, and charging with auto-store R134a?

Right! You put in the new condenser. Change out the reciever drier. Moisture and freon causes acid that will eat through other parts of the system.. Then put system on a vacuum for like 1/2 hr to remove humidity then charge. You may even have to add a small amount of oil to replace whatever might be in the reciever dryer.
You don't have to do it like this to get it to work but if you plan on keeping it for awhile it gives you something to think about.
