is there any proof that those things work? or is it just an urban myth? I keep hearing conflicting stories

The laser jammers? If so, yes..........but, they are not a 100% jam as many people think. They give you a few split seconds of jamming before the laser still picks you up. People think that since they are jammers, they will be fine flying by a cop at 90 and the cop "won't be able to clock them." Actually, jammers are great for the 2-3 split seconds it takes you to realize you are being tagged, apply brake pressure, and bring the car to a normal speed.

the radar detector was tested by Radar Roy (radarbusters.com) and was top of the line next to the STi Driver (cloaking features due to magnesium casing). They have videos and test scenarios on the site.

The RX65 is second in line to the STi Driver, but higher than the Valentine 1 (more expensive than RX65 too)

I picked up an Escort Passport 8500 X50 myself this past weekend. So far haven't had the opportunity to see it work except for when I'm at the mall thing goes off like crazy because of the doors.

Beltronics and Escort are now the same companies and the 8500 X50 is the same exact design as the RX65. The only difference is that it's a bit more expensive due to the added feature of having blue lighting (costs more for the gases to produce that color). They are equals but the Escort costs a bit more.

Great buy though...........I'm awaiting mine tomorrow

yea i assumed that once I saw the similarities in design. Didn't know that they're the same company tho. I didn't buy the Blue one, I got the Red one that's 40 bucks cheaper. Got it at Best Buy for 306 + 20 bucks for a 4 year warranty.

the rx65 is supposed to perform extremely well within its price range. This is the radar detector I've wanted for a while now.

I had a Valentine 1 in my old car. Once you have the directional arrows, it is impossible to go without them.

I was looking at that one, but the RX65 outperformed the Valentine in laser and Radar detection. I wanted close to top end and that was the STi Driver but didn't need the cloaking device it came with.

I hit up the STI Driver cause i needed something stealth in VA, fyi VA just got VG3 detectors in, so the only radar good against them is now the driver :D

Ratings depend on what site you look at, and what they are selling. There are so many "radar detector rating" sites, but the truth is they will show the highest ratings for for whatever line they sell. You can only buy Valentines direct from Valentine. They are pricey at about $400, but honestly the directional arrows are the most useful thing I have ever seen. Also, they are upgradeable so you will never be stuck with an outdated piece of junk.

I've been researching radarbusters.com and they tested the Valentine vs. the RX65, Escort 8500 x50 (i think that's the one), and the STi Driver...............it was a good rating for it, but it still came in under the RX65. But yeah, you're right............a lot of testing is bias.

I was gonna get the STi driver but since I stay away from D.C and VA, there'd be no point.
