took them a week for them to arrive.
when I first went with these rims on a budget, i did a lot of research and looks like flicks are popular amongst the mini cooper and audi crowd for those on a budget. and the only ones I see bashing them are those that have never seen or used the rims before, while users seem to think they are very good. When choosing these, I was looking for something similar to the sportmax 006. These are pretter close, but cheaper. at first I thought the bolts under the lip would be too busy looking or to bling. But after seeing similar rims on other cars, IMO they actually pair up well with all black cars.
while I was waiting for them to arrive, Ive already decided on the next set of rims when the tires need replacing. next time I want 18" konig crosshairs... at first I really wanted 18" 5zr, but than I saw the crosshairs, which IMO look better. Cant afford those, so hopefully itll be a long while before the tires need replacing.

I got them from edge racing.
$99 a rim.
they are packaged very good. and came with a dust cover in the box to protect the high gloss finish. they had to be shipped across the country from florida and the boxes came in nice shape, they wrapped some card board around the boxes and strapped them.
thats the link. when I did the research, on them it looks like flik is an in house brand for edgeracing. and I read by other users and such that they just rebrand expensive rims and sell them at their own prices.
I dont know if the wasp wheels fall under this category though. but they look nice. I did read one user say that after a few months the paint started flaking. I suppose that depends on your road conditions. many others havent had any issues. So Ill see how it goes. At $99 a rim its cheap enough to replace, so if it lasts me a year or until the tires wear out. Ill be happy.

they are getting installed today.
I think these rims stick out more than the stockies, and have a deeper lip since the stockies practically have no lip.
I always thought the 17" stockies look a bit too small on a BSP.
hopefully all willl be well today when I get back.
if anyone wants to see how they look on a BSP let me know and ill post pictures tomorrow
Im still deciding if I want to use the center rim caps. its like silver plastic

Let's see them pics. I was considering these wheels for a while now and I have a BSP. Are you dropped?

bah, I hate them. I shouldve gotten 19"s for these. Doh.
They do look kinda small, so I know what you mean...
I may get 18"s then. I'm considering some custom wheels to eventually add to mine.

no, you def shouldn't have gotten 19s.
its just that the glossy black "Y" spoke with silver lip rims are SO played out by now...you're kindof getting in on the end of the fad. Flat black finish would be much better than the glossy finish u got. and the stud/rivets are a bit over the top imo...they give the impression that its a true 2 or 3 piece rim, when in fact, its not.
plus, yeah, Flik wheels are basically a knockoff brand. just like discount tire has the MB wheels brand, Edge racing has flik. THey manufacture them themselves, not rebrand other manufacturers wheels. They base the design for Flik/MB wheels on popular designs/trends in the wheel market and often times just exactly copy other maker's wheel designs. not that they are crap or anything, but just kindof cheapo.
eg. the red emblem on the centercaps looks like poo. enkei, konig, rays, volk wouldn't put red lettering on a centercap on THAT rim. doesn't look good. one too many colors. i'd run them without the centercaps if i were you.
fyi, i paid only 130 per rim for Konig 17x7.5s...plus free shipping. add it up, and thats 120 more for the set...which, if you can afford to spend money on new rims, when your stock rims are perfectly fine, then you can probably afford to spend the extra 120 to get nice rims. .02

ah well. if I get new rims, Im definately not going to get 17" rims again. The center cap doesnt bother me at all :)
its just the spoke design stops early at the lip making the tires look smaller. Im about to head over to america tires just to get them changed for anything 18" and up.
if 19s will fit without rolling, Ill get 19"s, only if it has a lip. If not 18s will do fine.
its just rims with lips make them look about 2" smaller than they really are.
on the plus side, these are definately lighter than the stock rims. I definately notice better accleration and tighter handling. I didnt even think there will be a difference in the ride. but there is no denying its much better than the stock rims I had on earlier for driving.
This means im not going to get 5zr's i.e. 25lbs.
I didnt realize a couple of pounds would improve car handling this much.
I want a nice clean 5 spoke design in gun metal that weights less than 19lbs. 18" or 19", not polished lip, no chrome.
any suggestions anyone?
also suggestions for light tires would be great too!

okay, so u want light tires.....but at least 18" rims... that makes no sense.
18/19" rims (generally) weigh a good bit more than 17s....which will negatively affect your handling and ride quality.
well, if you think the fliks are lighter than the stockers (i'd have to see them on a scale to believe that) then keep them.
If anything, the most i would go with would be 18s. And in your price range, there is NO WAY you are finding 18s that weight less than 19 lbs.
i agree with the "rims with lips [can] look smaller"....my 17s don't really have a lip, and i swear they look like 18s.
i'd recommend discounttiredirect.com over edgeracing any day. even call and ask for Tom at x 438

i vote for the konigs..............in 17s :) (if you are dropped, then you shouldn't need the 18s to fill the wheel gap.

I went to america tires today, and I can get the konigs there, cheaper than other places with a wheel tire package. But I freaked out when I saw the weight... 18" = 29lbs.
no wonder the konig etailers choose not to post the weight of these wheels.
I dont think I want 17"s anymore, Ive learned my lesson, considering these have a fairly thick lip, 18s are the choice. plus im probably going to kill acceleration and handling anyway with the crosshairs since they are so freakin heavy, I might as well go bigger..

so I took new pics, and one with a side shot. Im kind of getting used to them. They dont look as bad to me now. I suppose it depends on the lighting. In broad daylight with direct sunlight, they look horrible, too much bling for me. but in the shade and night time they look pretty nice.
paint your calipers black and blacken your tires...that'll go a long way to making the rims look bigger. :)

well I wont have them for long! Im going to upgrade asap.
konigs 18" crosshairs. those are silver so lighter rims look even bigger than dark rims.
I dont want to do anything to the rims, I dont even feel like ever washing them :), they are going to be given to my bro as soon as I can get rid of them.

I think if I were to get 18" hornets rather than 17" wasps I wouldnt need to change the rims again.
the rims have a very fat machined lip. so 17" wasps will make your wheels looks smaller than the stock rims.
I really dont like the silver bolts on the edge of the rim, they make the wheel look too busy and serve no purpose.
the hornets and arctic rims are cleaner looking though.

the bolt on the rims and too many spokes make the wheel look to busy. I just wanted a clean look.
Ive decided to go with the dc-6 tenzos. last night I was looking at how cool a black rim with polished lip looks in the dark. I decided on black rims over the crosshairs.
