Paul Giamatti is generally pretty good in anything.

Have you seen Safe Men? Pretty funny.

I heard it was awful

I was actually given a copy of it and a case of beer - I still haven't watched it.

An actor is only as good the script and the direction he is given.

Was Paul Giamatti bad in Lady in The Water? Or was Lady in The Water just a nad script?

you're right. no paul giamatti was as great as someone could be for that role, but it does seem like it was written for him(i guess watch it, and tell me anyone else could have done that role better).

on the other hand, don't watch it. it's not a good movie.

paul giamatti was great in sideways, but if you look at his film career, especially more than 5 years ago, he's in a lot of bad movies.

He was good in Confidence, Storytelling, American Splendor, Sideways... yea, he might be in some bad ones, but overall, pretty good stuff.
