Default Buying the tC on Monday! Few Q's

Well ive decided to go ahead and buy it new, i want an 08 FM tC Auto...

Since this is the first car i ever buy from a dealer i have a few questions, i am going to have 4k to put down on the vehicle... That knocks 4k off the sticker right? So asuming the car is 19k, i put down 4k i can ask 15k out the door right?

I am also going to get by with asking them for a TRD strut bar, im buying from a big time Lexus, Toyota & Scion dealer so I hope its not a huge deal if I throw in some conditions...

Should i buy the extended warranty?

19K probably before tax, title, registration, fees (depending on options). I walked out the door at about 21K. I put down 8,500, so I financed 12,500. I only pay interest on the 12.5K.

Don't buy the extended warranty - consumer reports say that it's not worth it and they make valid points. In that after you pay for those extended warranties on everything that is offered, you've ended up paying more than it would have cost to just repair anything that may have needed it.

You can't negotiate with scion. i don't care what dealer you are buying from. They are not allowed to negotiate the price of the car, price of parts, or even throw anything in. So don't expect to get that strut bar. Also, the strut bar is worthless unless you're getting it for looks. It doesnt do anything much and the TRD is the most expensive. Get a TRD rear SWAY if anything. It makes a big difference. If you then want a strut bar, buy a difference one.

id say ask for the TRD rear sway bar instead? If they do give it to you, double check they dont add it into the price! Ive seen dealers known to do that! I got the 75k mile warranty. Im glad i have it too!

THATS BS THAT THEY CANT GIVE YOU ANYTHING FOR FREE. YOU PAYING FOR A NEW CAR, THAT YOU CANT NEGOTIATE THE PRICE AND THEY CANT GIVE YOU ANYTHING FOR FREE, THATS A LIE, THEY CAN BUT SOMETHING NOT EXPENSIVE, BUT AT LEAST SOMETHING. FIRST DEALER I WENT TO DIDNT WANT TO GIVE ME ANYTHING, SO I WENT TO ANOTHER ONE AND I MADE A DEAL WITH THE MANAGER THAT IF I WAS TO BUY THE CAR THAT DAY ,I WANTED SOMETHING FREE, AND WE DECIDED ON THE WHEEL LOCKS FOR FREE . MAKE SURE THEY DONT ADD WHAT THEY GIVE YOU FOR FREE ON YOUR TOTAL. PLUS IF THEY GIVE YOU SOMETHING FOR FREE MAKE SURE THEY WRITE IT UP ANYWERE AND GIVE YOU A COPY.

They say it's free, but add the price on to something else. So it all equals out.

Make sure to post up and let us know how the buying experience went for you. I'll be taking the same plunge in a couple of weeks and I'd like to see what I'm in for :-p
If you do manage to get something for free, as mentioned, make sure they document it as free somewhere. If you have to, bring a calculator and make sure that they aren't BSing you.

1 question for anyone who can answer this... I know you can't negotiate price with Scion but, I've heard of people having to/trying to negotiate financing with Toyota Finance. Does anyone know anything about how Toyota Finance works. Are they usually cheaper than getting a loan from a bank?

i called to inquire on pricing on an extended warranty at my local dealership. after they gave me the price of $1,499 i asked if extended warranties prices varied from dealership to dealership and he then said, well if you get it today i'll give you 10% off. typical dealer sales. i was so turned off by his selling techniqe i told him i would think about it. haven't gotten one yet but i'm getting close to the 36,000 marker.

I ASKED ABOUT THE FREE THING AFTER THEY GAVE ME THE NUMBERS. AFTER THEY SAID HOW MUCH I WAS GOING TO PAY MONTHLY AND BEFORE SIGNING THE CONTRACT. I WANTED TO MAKE SURE IT WAS GOING TO BE FREE . THATS IS TRUE THEY TRY TO TRICK YOU EVERY POSSIBLE WAY, SO YOU GOTTA BE AWAKE AND ASK QUESTIONS FOR EVERYTHING FISHY YOU SEE

I was in and out of the dealership with a new car in less than an hour thanks to pure pricing.
Tried asking for free stuff and they explained to me that that isn't allowed thanks to pure pricing.
They did offer free water, coffee, and soda lol.
Absolutely no pressure from the salesperson.

scion sets a price that the dealer can make on the car. so they have to sell it at a set price. every year the sold car prices are looked at and if its over or under priced the dealer gets fined. and i wanted floor mats and they wouldnt give them to me until i started walking out the door then they said they would see what they can do. i got them ahaha. but i still didnt get the license plate holders i wanted.

that, and don't let them try to sell you anything like under coating, tires for life. interior/exterior sealant and so on. from a dealership, all you want is the car itself. get the rest from trdsparks or mcgeorge parts and so on.
