View Full Version : Scion Price Trends - Is there a 'better' time to buy?

Hi all,

Those of you who've been around a while might be able to advise me on something...

I'm pretty excited about the xD - I think it'll be the next car I buy (when my old Chevy Astro dies.)

But I wonder, how does the price of a new Scion tend to change over time? Is there any discernable pattern? Might there be discounts to entice "early adopters"? Or will the launch price be higher to try to make a few extra bucks off those eager early adopters.

Thanks,
Jon

Scion has this "Pure Price" thing. Prices aren't negotiable. Everyone pays the same, and the only price fluctuations occur with new model years.

OK, thanks - that clears it up. I'm somewhat familiar with Pure Price, but I didn't know the rules on how often the pure price could change.

OK, well I might as well ask then, do individual Scion/Toyota dealerships tend to run promotions when a new model year is released? Or only when they're trying to unload an old model year?

I realize this is probably a dumb question anyway, since Scion prices are so reasonable to begin with... and each dealership will have it's own strategy.
But for example, a local dealer was offering $750 off an xA earlier this year, presumably to try to clear out stock before the xD arrives. I haven't been looking at Scions long enough to know if there are any promos when a new model is released.

Not a better time but their are better locations. Some dealers love to charge very high doc fees for scions to jack up the gross. Choose where you buy carefully. Some states are outlawing doc fees. +1 for those states!

Local dealer here was offering remaining xA's at $1000 below MSRP. I doubt you will get a deal on a xD like that for some time.
