Default Aftermarket Deck with Toyota 100W Speaker upgrade?

I'm looking at getting a new deck for my tC and currently I have the toyota 100W speaker upgrade. If I add an aftermarket deck is there anyway to use the amp still? Has anyone tried this? I'm not afraid to be the first since I've done my own audio installations, but I'm curious if anyone else has had any experience with this.

Here's a link to what I'm talking about:

Thanks,

Kevin

i believe the speakers are a southeast toyota regional option. that's why the rest of us haven't seen them before.

hmm.. I didn't know this either lol. The amp is under my driver seat, it's pretty small. As far as sound goes, they sound like after market speakers.

AMP? tc upgraded 100w speakers? uh
if anyone had a clue as to what the mystery mod was im sure they made an adapter for it but for some reason i highly doubt it.
Did you purchase the car new or is this "100w speaker upgrade" more like a backyard install in a traded in tc?

more info please take pics of the amp if you can and what headunit is powering it now base or ipod (not that theres much difference)

yea it came with the car when I bought it (used). I want to say that this is the upgraded JBL Package. I have the iPod deck and I also had the Bazooka sub option to, but i got rid of that and addded a 10" Type-R. You can order the sub and the door speaker upgrade w/ amp as 1 kit which costs $833 according to Scion's website.

I'll see if I can get some pictures laster today.

Yes, there's always a way. In this case you'd first need a wiring diagram for the amp, which unfortunately isn't included in the install instructions. With that you'd know what wires to splice into on the amp's harness, to connect to power & ground, and which wires to connect to your aftermarket HU for remote trigger and the signal for the 4 channels. It's really not at all difficult, but either a wiring diagram or other way to determine which wires are which on the amp's harness is required.

As an alternative, you could still use the speakers with the aftermarket HU's built-in power, or get a small, inexpensive 4ch amp to power them instead of the Scion amp, as that'd be easy to connect to your new HU and should also sound better than the Scion amp too.

yea that's true. I haven't looked down there but I want to assume the speaker wire is color coded like the VSE sub which made it easy to hook up my type-r. replacing the amp isn't bad I could get a new one for less than $100 easy.

Thanks
