you have to remove the cowl and the motor to make it easier to get ot the rear most nut on the strut mount it saves alot of stress that way

You don't "have" to (refer to Randode's experience) but it makes it pretty easy to do the whole thing alone.
It took me less than 10 minutes to get it all out and I promise I saved that in screwing around time working around the cowl. I'm not sure I could have even done it by myself working around the cowl.
One note from me. There is some silly thing in the instructions about removing the wiper motor separately. If you have a 1/4" drive 6" long extension it's easy to just pull cowl screws behind the motor in the aft wiper motor mount bracket and the whole cowl and wiper assembly comes out together.

is it only the one nut in the back that needs access.

and the wiper motor assem, is that in the way to, or can you get away without removeing that.

roxor: so you mean that the cowl and the motor assemly can be taken out in one step...

hey randode: how did you do it.

Sorry I missed this. I know you are already done, but yes I took the cowl and motor out together.
Randode said he did not take the cowl out at all.

All you have to is jack up the car and grvity will pull down on the strut while you loosen the nuts. You shouldn't need to take apart a bunch of other stuff.

I just installed my front springs without removing the cowl. It was easy. The hardest part was getting the sway bar ends reinstalled.

If you have a rubber mallet, it makes a wonderful 'impact gun' for tightening down those top strut nuts with a wrench.
