I've talked to a couple of you NW folks about this before, but now it's 100% certain that I will be relocating to the Northwest in about two weeks. Wee!
Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone since I'm usually pretty active on the Regional forums and always down for local shows and meets. [waves]
My name is Cynce [pronounced "since"], I'm 22 and born and raised in the Los Angeles area. My boyfriend of almost 2 years was offered a really awesome position in Portland at an events marketing place and we're in the process of buying a cute little 2 bedroom condo in NE Portland. We're both looking forward to all of the green scenery, clean air, nicer people, the opportunity to eventually raise kids in a safer place then LA.
**Side Note: Why can't I pump my own gas in Oregon!? It really freaked me out when the attendent wouldnt let me pump my gas! LoL. I felt bad making him do it! Guess it's something I'll get used to? OMG, ya'll have 92 octane instead of 91 like in CA, though - squee for my turbo! LoL - K, end side note**
Anyhoo, this is becoming a novel - so in short, I have a 2005 Widebody tC with blah blah blah done to it. No, its not a daily driver so you probably wont see it cruising around the streets of Portland. LoL. Here are some recent pictures from HIN San Diego. You can check out more pics on my MySpace page - the link is in my signature. Looking forward to meeting everyone up there! :D

Welcome to the PNW!
My hubby is from NorCal and you'll notice a few more oddities than just the gas pumping issue. He'll also tell you that the weather sucks in his opinion.
You have a sweet ride. If you are interested in showing it, you should come to Excelerator (http://www.exceleratorcarshow.com) over in Idaho on July 14th. There is a huge group from Oregon & Washington heading over. It's an NCCA sanctioned show this year and included in the national points chase.
Other than that, we would love to see you at any of our area meet & greets! Can't wait to meet you in person! Let us know when you get up here and we'll have a welcome party!!!

Hi. My name is Lee. I live in a BFE town west of Seattle. You probably won't see me because I don't get out much. But yeah, I've seen you around SL and stuff. Welcome to the Northwest, Cynce. Inhale that CLEAN AIR! =P
Welcome to the NW!
I'm sure that you'll be sweeping up the trophies up here, especially best female ride and stuff. :D I'm excited to meet you and see your amazing car.
And on a side note,... rain falls mysteriously up here, so most likely after a nice car wash one day the next day will rain and make it dirty all over again. Also, don't rely on the news.

Welcome Cynce! I moved up here about six years ago from the Bay Area, people are a lot nicer up here and it is greener and cleaner. The only down side is you have to get use to things not being open all hours of the night like they are in Cali, there is less to do up here and the rain sucks, but I have finally gotten use to it.
The biggest issue as far as weather is concerned is in Cali you think it is odd when the sun is not out in the PNW you think it is odd when the sun is out. I just expect it to rain all the time so I can be pleasantly surprised when it is sunny. Remote start helped in the winter I still don't do ice or snow driving but that is only a few days a year if that and everything shuts down anyway so nothing to really worry about.
I can't wait to meet you and check out your car!
As for not being able to pump your own gas in Oregon that is to promote employment or at least that is what the government wants you to believe. I feel bad for the guys who do have to do it so I give them a tip, they always seem surprised by that. Then they remember me and always wash my windows and are extra nice!

Aww, thanks for the warm welcome, everyone
Yeah, the biggest hurdle I will have to get over is the weather. Being born and raised near LA, I'm used to 300+ days of sunshine a year and temperatures usually being 70+ yearround. But as everyone has said, you eventually get used to it. As long as I have a good tanning salon and get my daily does of artificial sunlight, I'm thinking I'll be ok. ;)
Ryan - going away shin dig will be sometime towards the end of the month. Probably at a Fridays or something in the south part of the San Fernando Valley - so definitely a drive from you in SD - but would love to have you there! I'll be posting info on MySpace sometime soon.

Well, you are coming up at the right time, mid July thru August is usually the best months for nice weather, and we seem to get a nice indian summer in mid Sept., but after that, good luck having a clean car from day to day, lol.
Cynce the scenery is nice but I moved up here from carlsbad about five years ago and there isn't a day that I don't miss it. But if you like being outdoors there's a lot to do. And definitely a lot to see! And if you make it up to seattle that's where I spend a majority of my time!
