I'm planning on getting all of my windows tinted to legal maximum here in CA.

Including (if I can find it...) a strip of aqua or something close to the HTM color on the top of the windshield.

My girlfriend's dad works on the police cars in my city and as such he could introduce me to the guy who tints all the police cars. I'll probably end up going with him.

Has anyone had the windows tinted? How much did it cost? What kinds of experiences did you have?

I am going to do my 2 front windows next week, vary lightly to match the rears. I was quoted $85 at XLNT tint in Anaheim. Have been using them for about 15 years and love them, great work never had a problem and iirc lifetime warranty

tinted my window im in Hawaii SE Hawaii has a hook up with a shop here.. 140.00 all windows.. mines is 29 up front the max legal limit and a layer of 5% in the rear in which is blacked out..

I was expecting to pay in the $500 range... these numbers are making my wallet a lot happier.

My Scion dealership recommended that I go to The Tint Pros.

Lifetime Warranty and such.

$180 is a lot less than I expected i'd be paying.

Wondering if maybe they'll have a strip of a color like my car to put on the upper part of the windshield... we'll see.

i got mine done 5 percent all the way around, including an 8 inch banner up front for 190.

$500!!! You're crazy man...i got my 2 front windows on my 08 xb matched to the factory tint from the rear windows for $80 out here in Richmond, CALI

Tint is like paint jobs, you can go to earl shieb or go high end.

My buddy runs a shop and did mine. The back measured 30% from the factory with a borrowed meter from a deputy. We put 20% on the front and 35% on the rear. His Lummar 35% tint tests 30% with this meter after installation. I love it. The front is not dark enough to get pulled over and the back is not too dark to see out of at night.

From what I know from experience (pulled over with 4 different cars for tint), in Cali you can't have driver and front passenger windows tinted at all. Even though cops aren't usually worried about it but it is a reason to pull you over. I remember one time I watched a CHP racing inbetween cars way behind me. Cutting people off in a hurry. I started to move over thinking it was a real emergency until he got behind me and turned on his lights. Turned out it was for my tint that was extra lite. Anyways with my XB, I went to a shop I've been going to for years and asked to have the fronts the same color as the factory tint. They did it but not to happy with it. From outside it looks real good but from inside you can see the fronts are a little darker then backs.

well i got Limo back seats and trunk and 35% front windows... they wouldnt do a strip for the windshield... ~_~ Thats what I get with going through the dealer. O well... its financed...

yeah every vehicle I own is tinted that way. Here is pics of the tC. Same way. I drove that car almost everyday and only got one ticket in it. I just pay the ticket. I cant live without my tint.. LOL

went with 15 on front windows and 20 on back and rear windows. cost 180

Had mine done last Monday. 15% Drivers/Passengers windows. Rear were "Privacy" from the factory. Match perfectly. Did the front Windshield strip 5" down as well. 174.00 with tax. But I do a trade with this company so it's worth it.

Yeah, I stopped to grab some food last night and my wife was in our '07 Tundra which the front windows are 15% to match the rest of the rear windows. Illegal in WA. Cop came out of the restaurant and went right up to the window to see if anyone was in the truck. She thought she was going to get a ticket for the window tint. However, wouldn't hold in court on private property.

The shop that has done all our cars and shop cars always does the windows to match. Never had a problem with them. Never been pulled over either in any of our cars including driving the race car on the street...LOL

Lumar all the way around on mine and it was a fraction of that.

u no what.... what would happen if Im from AZ... and go to Cali with my car for vacation. Would a cop give me a ticket cuz I have tint though Im there for like a week and have aan AZ plate...? hmmmm ~_^
