Default Power Boost K and N any good?

well im looking to add some power to my car and i was thinking about an intake but i would like the cheap way out so i was thinking maybe a K and N air filter...idk so much about intakes and i really dont want to just buy one not knowing anything...any advice..? i just want something that will give me an added boost it doesnt have to been a huge boost u know just a little bit...and i cant afford for it to waste gas thats why i was thinking about k and n bec they say it saves gas....whats u opinion?

If you want to go for a little bit of power( like only 5-10hp, not enough to feel) go with just a drop in k&n filter. You will get about 1-3mpg better but not much gain in Hp. If you want a good hp gain( still not too much though) then you need to go with a cold air intake kit.

about how much increase will that intake give me for the price diffrence?

The cheapest way is to just remove the snorkel from the stock air box. If you have an automatic, probably best to keep the stock air box anyway- the intakes increase HP starting about 3500 RPM. Unless you floor it all the time, you won't be in the RPM range to use it. Also, you lose some low end torque. K&N drop in filter isn't going to do anything noticeable from a new air filter. The main benefits are not having to replace it and it not restricting flow over the service life.
