Are you sure it was vandalism?

Mine did the same thing, but I dont think it was vandalism.

My windshield cracked just sitting still.

any ideas on how it might have happened? is the design of the car at fault? or is it just bad luck.

I think it may be a combination of a couple of things. 1) point of impact 2) the curvature of the windshield.

I know how you feel. My windshield is cracked, i guess from a rock, and i got an estimate of $700 at the dealer! They are killing me! I know a guy in the parts dept. and he said that the guy is ripping me off, and they should sell it for 500, as listed on the cpu. He says he can get it for me for 400, which is a lot better than 700, but i still want to have it installed for 400, maybe even less.

OOOOH WELL, I'M GONNA HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT 'TILL THEN!

I had a rock chip in my window.
I called my Mercury insurance and got through right away to claims. They waived the deductable, and provided me with a claim number and a window shop that would bill them directly.
The window place came out to my car while I was at work and fixed my window after I provided the claim number.
All of this happened within the space of 7 hours on the same day I called. It was amazing! I thought dealing with my insurance was going to be a pain, but it was the easiest thing I've done in a long time and didn't cost me a cent.
Mad props to Mercury Insurance.

that is a bummer Eddy!

i just checked with a reputable mobile glass repair service and the Scion glass is not available to them as of yet, so the dealer is your only option.....

i suggest going to www.newscionparts.com and calling the parts desk and getting a price from them.....it is down in Carson, but Steve Ganz and the guys in his parts department usually give the best prices around.....i think you would definitely save some money there.....

tell Steve that Bruce with the Polar xB sent you.....

good luck!

how do you get your deductible waived? I have Mercury as well and I thought any claims you make is cost minus your deductible? My windshield cracked too!! BTW - what area did you everyone's windshield crack? Mine was smack right in the center!!
