I got a full tank from the dealer when i purchased my 2005 xb 2 days ago. I went 285 miles on that tank. where did I hear that you shouldnt let the gas tank light come on when you first get your xb?

I dont think it was meant for the first tank. Maybe it was made as a general statement as not to let the light come up. Ensures that you have plenty of gas if there's an accident ahead.

Some posts on here talk about it. Mostly you dont want the tank to run to low, because you might run out of gas. Also near the bottom of the tank is where all the crap in gas settles, so you dont want that getting to the engine. Some say the gas cools the fuel pump & many other things. Congrats on a estimated by me 33mpg. I got this going on the idea you put about 8.5 gallons into your box, could havebeen more or less.

Hey,

I have never heard anything like that regarding your first tank. Also, you might want to take a look at previous posts that talk about the first Tank on an XB:
