first post! Why do you love your xA?
Hey all. this is my first post here after hearing about how good you guys are on here. Next month, i will come across the funds to buy a NEW car, yes i said new! After careful scrutiny, I have decided on the xA. What do you guys love about this car that can further persuade me to buy it? Also, to keep this balanced, what dont you like? I would really like to hear from all relivant parties on the issue. thanks so much and look forward to hearing your responces.
Well the things that sold me on the xA were it's cheap price with all the stuff it comes with. For example, I went to a nissan dealership to price a car and they want an extra $1000 for things that already come on the xA like power windows, door locks, nice cd player, and ABS breaks. I also like the little cubby that you get with the xA.
The only thing thats bad about this car is that it is really underpowered with only 108Hp. This is my first car so I don't mind, but if you are accustomed to having more power then this will feel like a step down. But its a city car, its not supposed to go fast, its just supposed get you where you are going.
I love the xA though and I'll drive it until I cant drive it no more. Oh and welcome to ScionLife!!!

To echo Sanchez's comments, absolutely...bang for the buck xA is a great deal.
On top of that is the "unique-ness" of the car. Since the production run ended in 12/06 there's a limited number of xA's out there. Yes, it is a"city car"...a little under powered and really intended for the Japanese and Euro markets but very driveable and with a few perfomance focused mods xA is able to keep up with the pack.
I've owned lots of cars over the years. Hands down, xA is the most fun I've ever had with a car. Fun to drive, easy to mod. Oh yeah...the community!

What sold me on the xA was the killer deal I got on it. Naw thats what made me finally take the plunge and get the car. I've been lookin at the xA ever since they first came out, before I had gotten my liscense lol. Over the years whenever I went car shopping I'd always wind up at the local Scion dealership lookin at the car. I've always liked the looks of the car, and I love the look of the 06 as it looks more aggressive n sporty. I like how the car comes with everything and the only big decisions u have to make are color, transmission, and weather u want side airbags. I love the 5spd, makes a huge difference over the anemic automatic. Plus it was easy to learn on, yea this is my first stick and I won't every go back to automatic. Another thing is that this car is small on the outside but big on the inside. I'm 6'2" and sit comfortably. And that's funny considering how I didn't fit well in a Corolla, heck I can't fit comfortably in alot of cars most of them expensive models. The hatchback design is awesome for carrying stuff, big plus.
I'm slowly working on fixing the things I don't like about the car. I added the rear swaybar to fix the poor handling of the car. I love the stock Pioneer stereo but didn't like the lack of bass, so I added a 10" Pioneer sub to fix that problem. I'll be adding brass shifter bushings soon to help out with the shifter. But what I really don't like about the car is 1) The shifter is very inpercise and very notchy and 2) I want a sixth gear. The car revs high on the highway and a sixth gear would do wonders on this thing. Other than that I don't regret getting the xA.

What I love with my xA? First off I just love the gas mileage it gets that is the most I love with my xA. I love how it looks even though it's an 05. I just like the fact that I feel good when I pass a focus, Ugh an Aveo, a spectra hatch, And wadoyanoh the over rated honda copy
. I love the styling design. I was bummed that they are replacing it. I was also about to trade it in for a tC. But I figured it is a good work car and a city car. And the fact that it will be a collectors item soon. So I kept it and got my 2008 Nautical Blue tC. So even though I am in love with my tC? My xA will always be my gas saver and always be my buddy. Always be my # 1
Here she is BTW.

What got me to buy the XA was a couple of things that I will list for you.
A) The price: Hands down you definitely get what you paid for and if you find something you absolutely have to have then it is right there for you at the dealership.
B) The looks: Very unique and different.
C) The gas mileage: 30+ MPG is always a good thing
D) Cheap insurance
E) Comfort: I am 6'2, male, 21 years of age and this is BY FAR the most comfortable car I have EVER sat in in my life. It fits me perfect......

Also to add, good/decent versitility. I mean you can transport 4 people comfortably (on long trips 3 adults is probably better). Also, I'm a cyclist- and I can fit 1 bike in the back by putting the back seats down
In terms of the power, there is always a trade off in buying cars. Typically, good mpg's = low hp. Hight hp tends to = at best 25-26mpg's average (ie. M3, WRX/STi, VW R32, Evo's, S2000, etc.) .... not to mention all of those cars you need to put 91 or higher octane gas
denico83, not to take anything away from your great looking tC(which I considered buying a 07 super-white 5-speed spec. model) , but after test driving one 5-speed and a couple autos .. I was not impressed with the tC. 1. not as good on gas, 2. surprisingly getting 2 adults in the back of the car- there heads were hitting the top roof/back window area- not good , 3. tC was $2-3K more $$ , 4. I found the doors kinda cumbersome to open/close- very long-large doors and seemed disproportionate to the layout of the vehicle. Also... the interior did not impress me... I like the xA's interior much better ( layout/design, and materials used).
***Also.. also... keep in mind, sure the xA has 45-50 less horsepower then the tC , but surprisingly since the xA is 600 pounds lighter
Love for a car
why i love my Xa?
U know one of the main things that people complain about in this car is the horsepower, and granted, when i take a look at the revs as i do about 80 on a highway i start asking myself if maybe something with a lil more kick would have been bettter. But I always come back to the same conclusion...my xa rox.....its hard NOT to love this car. I mean cmooon with an msrp under 14k, sure add taxes and what not but still..u get a pretty good frekn deal eh?
and heck i learned to drive on a 4.1, so i was reluctant to get a 1.5, but ( granted its my first car) ....but i do love her so ......
btw i keep looking at the Xd and i cant come to terms with it...sure the engines nice..but its not an Xa......aight yo,
ya'll keep shifting and enjoy them.
peace

Well this is my first post
I love my new Xa and i'll tell ya why. First is the milage per gallon and its a Toyota product. I got plenty of car for the money and i'm older than most here and a dad but wanted something sporty and cool too. I am in a Rock band on the weekends and belive it or not got my 4x10 bass speaker cab 2x10 bass cab and head 2 basses and cases a cooler and gig bag in my Xa with not much problem. I know the engine is small but ill tell ya what i have to slow down in mine and its an automatic...it peppy to me and downright sporty and a blast to drive. I have had many look at it and all think its killer so im happy i got my lil Xa cuz i dont see one everyother light
LOL - For the record you can also fit a double bass (on it's side) two Bergantino cabs, a rack, gig bag full of stands and a Steinberger bass...and a wife in the front seat...in an xA. Weekend jazz gig.
First off, I love my color. I'm also happy at the gas mileage I'm getting--I don't even have to try to get 35mpg and I can easily get more than that, but I'm always in a hurry to get somewhere
The ride is very comfortable. The seats suck you in and I don't feel fatigued after driving even after doing my 80 miles a day 6-7 days a week.
I moved most of my apartment in my xA. It fit my computer desk, a recliner, all of my boxes of shtuff, a dining table and chairs, and a semi-assembled TV stand. Of course, it wasn't all at the same time, but you can fit a whole lot of stuff into that little of a car.
It makes a great daily driver for me and I'm happy with it. When I take coworkers home or take friends for rides they're surprised at the room it has. The backseat is even pretty roomy considering its size.
The only thing I really don't like about the car is the wind noise even with the windows up. There's still a light "hiss" that I didn't have in my other car. But then again, the xA comes with a great stock audio system so that problem is quickly fixed. ;)
Also, for some reason, when I roll down my front windows I my ears pop and I feel like I'm in an airplane that pressurized too quick. I have to have my back windows cracked a bit to get rid of that feeling...It's just nitpicking of course, I just find it a bit odd.

I love the looks more than anything else about it. The design and profile of the car when it is dropped just looks kickbutt. I see a lot of other sporty hatches out there, but they always have something that just doesn't look right. The Fit for example, it looks way too top heavy, the exhaust is a tiny little pipe, the ground effects are non-existant on the stock. The Versa just looks weird, the Yaris is a bit bubbly, etc etc etc. Even the Mazdaspeed 3 looks too family friendly to me. Granted, all of those can look pretty killer with some kits added here or there, but I still think the xA is the only one that just looks kickbutt off the floor.
As for horsepower. Yeah, we all want it. But how many of us would really use it? I had a BMW which had a bit more power than the xA, but I never used it. Merging onto the highway a second faster? Who cares.. I don't street race, I dont track the car. I don't enter compos. For some people, yeah, they love tweaking these, but for an average every day person that wants a car that looks killer, you can't beat it. But holy hell, going around corners? These cars can whip around them like no ones business, especially in busy city streets. Huge huge bonus.
Yeah, I love the MPG, I love the low insurance, I love the handling, but most of all, I love the way it looks.
ein311: I dont have a hiss with my windows up. Might have a seal acting funky.
