Anyone waiting for the Honda Fit?

View Full Version : Upgrade from xA to Honda Fit? Emotional_Vampire 09-29-2004, 03:59 AM Anyone waiting for the Honda Fit? chucksu 09-29-2004, 04:01 AM I think a few could be. Hard saying. mikochu 09-29-2004, 04:03 AM I needed a car, so waiting another year wouldn't do me any good. I may "upgrade" later down the line...but my mom called me earlier yesterday about the tC..."That Scion tC looks good...one is in front of me right now.." "yeah, it's nice" "awwww, poor miggy..." so there IS a chance! djct_watt 09-29-2004, 04:13 AM I really like the xA. . . just because it really sticks out on the road, and I've had previous trouble with Honda's. . . but I'd have to see the Fit in person(again). I saw it when it first came out in Thailand. . . and I wasn't really in the market for these kinds of cars back then, so I didn't really give it a chance. I've never been let down by the xA *knock on wood* so I don't see a reason to switch. empleh 09-29-2004, 09:32 PM yeah i'd have to see the car in person... moaiD 09-30-2004, 06:52 AM dont know abt the fit over in us.. i tried one here... dont think the build is a rigid as scion or ist just slam the door close on each car.... just listen to the difference in the "thud" sound.... Black_Cherry_xA 09-30-2004, 05:15 PM I don't really like the way the Fit looks. The pics in the other thread of the interior is nice, I like the stereo setup, and the auto temperature controls. I'll keep my xA until I can afford a TDI or a hybrid. :D Energist 10-01-2004, 01:59 AM Don't really get the allure of the Fit myself. To each their own, but the reason I'm drawn to the xA is the lines of the outside, and the styling of the interior. The Fit doesn't do a thing for me in either category. Granted, the xA doesn't have the most plush interior in the world, but for the price point and in comparison to the Fit's, I'll take it over anything else out there. I have 15K to spend, and I don't need a car immediately. However, nothing available today or tomorrow intrigues me half as much as the xA; I plan on keeping it for a long, long time. scionracerxA 10-01-2004, 08:38 PM I had a chance to drive a Fit for a marketing research survey. While I was taking it for a spin, the sterring column suddenly became very heavy. The research guy with me said to pull over, switch off the car and switch it back on, at which point I asked him if Microsoft started building cars for Honda. He said that the electro-hydraulic steering sometimes shuts off, but they hope to have it ready for production. Overall the tranny was a whole lot smoother than my xA, the acceleration a little better and the cornering a little better. If it were released here at the same time as the xA's, it would have been a very tough choice. chucksu 10-01-2004, 09:07 PM I would need to see the list of stand things & what things come as options. With this being honda, I dont think it will come standard with A/C or if it does, it might go for only a little less then the Civic. Mr_scion 10-01-2004, 09:27 PM i would buy the fit if i had some money sitting around but for the money i would get the xb over it but when the new Mercedes-Benz Vision B comes out i think i will let the xb go depending on the price of the benz http://www.autoweek.com/files/specials/2004_paris/mbenz_bclass/images/1.jpg Placebo 10-01-2004, 09:50 PM well the a-class is around 25k and thats bigger then the a-class so possibly 27k+ xAlex 10-02-2004, 12:35 AM nothing's as beautiful as an xA... that honda fit is just lackin... "umph" which the scion has plenty of chewd0g 10-04-2004, 01:40 AM  I can't believe people are considering the 'Fit'! It's a weak design aimed towards people who aren't worried about image! The soft curves remind me of a damn Aveo! xAlex 10-04-2004, 06:53 PM i agree, the fit is busted... if anything that would be a "downgrade to a honda", i like hondas but the fit is simply ugly BoomBox757 10-04-2004, 07:00 PM super street said that the fit and the toyota vitz are coming to the US soon http://matiztop100.com/zb/data/m_demo/vitz.jpg HAHA chewd0g 10-04-2004, 09:27 PM That makes absolutely no sense to bring the Vitz to the US. If they are worried about competition outside of the Scion/Toyota name bringing in an internal competition just doesn't seem smart. the_drizzle 10-04-2004, 10:59 PM Oh man, I dont really see that as an upgrade. Lookswise, the xA is like 10x cooler. No contest. Emotional_Vampire 10-04-2004, 11:50 PM Goddamn... y'all Fit haters be trippin' on some sheeot. Haha. I love the look of the xA... I think the front fender, headlamps and sides are brilliantly executed, but the tail lights irk me for some reason. I think it's the gray circle inside the red that looks like it doesn't know what to do. The Fit is definately more unique looking... let's not forget, the xA is essentially a Matrix that went through a "Babality." The xA has a cuter ___ than the Jazz, though. But the main point is... the Fit is far more better designed as far as the interior. The flip up/flip down rear seats are brilliant. And remember, the Fit was the UK's Car of the Year in 2002... and those Europeans know their subcompacts. The xA is awesome, but could have been much better executed. I await the Fit. bondobob 10-05-2004, 12:23 AM tha fit looks like do do,i am going to pitch a fit hondas suck! bondobob Cybergypsy 10-05-2004, 12:25 AM Like that cutie! Teammischiefek 12-02-2004, 11:08 AM If the US Honda Fit comes with the K-series motor, I would definately chose the Honda Fit. There's actually a Spoon Honda Fit. Corbic 12-02-2004, 08:21 PM The US FIT is expected to be just the Sedan isnt it? (Which is uglier then an Echo). chewd0g 12-02-2004, 09:36 PM The Honda Fit is oooooooooooogly. scion-bb 12-02-2004, 10:13 PM I saw the Fit at a Scion market research survey event in 2003, I can tell you that when the car comes out the interior WON'T be as nice as the in the pictures. Since it's a Honda, you know they will make you pay extra for stuff like A/C and power options. Fit offers more seat configurations and storage and even aux power port than xA, but for me it's just too girly. (not that xA is manly, but Fit is like that valley girl that's good for messing around but not for keeps. uhh don't know if that's a good analogy) =Þ chewd0g 12-02-2004, 10:20 PM I saw the Fit at a Scion market research survey event in 2003, I can tell you that when the car comes out the interior WON'T be as nice as the in the pictures. IT'S NOT CUTE DAMN IT, I'M A GUY, GUYS DON'T DRIVE "CUTE" CARS!!!!!! Corbic 12-03-2004, 12:33 AM "HONDA TO DEBUT 1.3-LITER-CLASS SUBCOMPACT IN U.S. THIS YEAR TOKYO (Nikkei)--Honda Motor Co. (7267) will start selling a 1.3-liter-class subcompact in the U.S. as early as this year to fend off its South Korean rivals, The Nihon Keizai Shimbun has learned. The model will be based on the Fit, which is highly popular in Japan, and the automaker expects annual sales of 50,000. Priced at around 10,000 dollars for the lowest-end model, it will be cheaper than the company's Civic, which is priced between 13,000 dollars and 20,000 dollars for models with 1,300-2,000cc engines. Honda at this point is considering exporting the vehicles from Japan, but may produce them in Brazil instead if the dollar continues to trade below 110 yen and makes exports from Japan less profitable or even loss making. Honda sold 1.35 million new cars in the U.S. last year, a gain of 8% on the year and a record. But the strong performance owed to solid sales of the Pilot sport utility vehicle and other nonpassenger cars. Honda and other Japanese automakers have long dominated the subcompact field, but are now facing stiff competition from Hyundai Motor Co. of South Korea. The South Korean automaker's market share in the U.S. grew from 1.8% in 1998 to 5.7% in 2003. (The Nihon Keizai Shimbun Thursday morning edition) " Nissan is also expected to release thier Cube. The FIT is an awarding winning car by the way. http://www.honda.de/car/carimages/car_jazz_24_2002_l.jpg http://www.honda.de/car/carimages/car_jazz_28_2002_l.jpg http://www.honda.de/car/carimages/car_jazz_43_2002_l.jpg http://www.honda.de/car/carimages/car_jazz_18_2002_l.jpg http://www.honda.de/car/carimages/car_jazz_20_2002_l.jpg http://www.honda.de/car/carimages/car_jazz_49_2002_l.jpg Very nice interior, very utilitarian and no center gauge pod!!! Saddly it will be slower then a xA and its fuglier then a Aveo. Even worse, this is what the sedan looks like which is what the US is expected to recieve after the floop on the SI Hatchback (Honda learned US don't like hatchs  ) http://www.motormagazinesha.co.jp/medialog/hotmenu/whatsnew/2002_12/021217/run.jpg http://www.motormagazinesha.co.jp/medialog/hotmenu/whatsnew/2002_12/021217/rear.jpg http://thehollywoodextra.com/honda/city1.jpg Gross Personaly, the Nissan Cube is HOT! Way better looking then the xB (xB is hideous). However I think the Cube is expected to be around 13-14k starting, pricy. http://press.nissan-global.com/NEW_CUBE/IMG/CARS/LOW/cube_039.jpg http://www.in.gr/auto/parousiaseis/foto_big/Nissan_Cube_02.jpg http://www.autoreview.ru/new_site/year2002/n21/news/800/cube_055.jpg http://www.japcar.ru/cat_pic/cnis_cube6.jpg BeQuietAndDrive 12-03-2004, 04:36 AM If Toyota brought the Vitz here..let me say I would be on the waiting list. It would have to be the Vitz RS though..standard Echo interior doesn't do it for me. The Fit is pretty cool though. http://perso.wanadoo.fr/site.neo/spoonfit1_WEB.jpg http://www.mis.janis.or.jp/~hm219/images/zenkokuoff/zennkoku058.jpg Pretty sweet if I may so so myself. Me: "hey, just like you..." LuxNova 12-05-2004, 11:51 PM They already sell the Vitz/Yaris in Canada as the Echo Hatch. djct_watt 12-05-2004, 11:55 PM I'm sorry. . . the fit is still extremely ugly to me. . . it's like taking an xA and beating it with an ugly stick. . . I even hated the xB at one point, but have since warmed up to them. . . and I kinda want one to go along side my xA. The Jazz/Fit never appealed to me, and still doesn't. God, that thing is ugly. But you do gotta love the folding seat bottoms, and the larger cargo area. . . but if I wanted versatility, I would have bought an xB. Corbic 12-06-2004, 01:00 AM Fit looks like the Si's little sister who has selfesteme issues because of her older brother... and gourges herself on pastries and icecream as a result. hotbox05 12-06-2004, 01:01 AM the fit hatch isnt too bad but that sedan is uglier than most any car i've seen in awhile. djct_watt 12-06-2004, 04:30 AM I believe the sedan is the Honda City, which isn't so bad in person. . . it's like an Echo, but not as weird, and no plastic. But the Jazz/Fit is ugly in pictures and in person. My granny's panty stains are more appealing BadKarma 12-07-2004, 03:29 PM The fit looks too much like a soccer mom minivan. Aesthetically, I don't think the elongated line (compared to the more diminutive xA) is pleasing to the eye.....but that's my subjective opinion, of course. The Mercedez-Benz Vision B is more visually pleasing, but no doubt at the cost of $$price$$. BadKarma 12-07-2004, 03:44 PM Corbic, thanks for posting all the pics. The Nissan Cube's rear end looks too asymmetrical for my liking....plus the shape is a blatant rip-off (I'd be embarassed if I were Nissan). As for the interior styling (Fit, Cube, and xA), I still prefer the xA over the others. The Fit's dash arrangement looks....well....Honda (neither good, nor bad....just bland). And the Cube's dash is.....cubicle (doesn't "move" me like Scion). I'm a fan of the Scion xA center pod console. I find it more practical than a traditional cluster, and the center layout of the pod, stereo, and A/C looks different and more ergonomic in the xA. kyle_husky 12-10-2004, 05:09 AM the terribly design...yuck.... |
