I had my body shop paint mine for me. I have a Silver xB. Painted it a high gloss black. Had them fill the holes in from the front tag bracket then paint it. I'll get a pic up of it hopefully tomorrow for you.

Hey! That's my car. I used a flat black vinyl. I used a glossy black vinyl originally but it didn't flow well with the car.

Has anyone considered blacking out the flat part of the hood near the cowl? Can someone do a photoshop?

techgeekwill
07-03-2007, 07:08 PM
That's a really good idea. Makes the entire front end look better.

Anyone know how much one should expect for this piece?

BrianRichardson

My local vinyl graphics store quoted me $85 to install a matte black piece for me.

looks good. Pretty good pic from a phone too.

the glossy black looks good since (at least in the pic) it looks like it matches the gloss of the paint.

Do you like the gloss or woul you have gone with a flat black?

I'm very happy with how the gloss turned out. Wouldn't have gone flat black.

ooohhhhh. I thought it was thats why i was asking about how it looked (glossy vs. flat)

stick_1NZ
07-19-2007, 09:01 AM
I chose the vinyl over paint 'coz of $$$. The vinyl serves also to protect part of your front bumper from rock chips and bugs and cheaper to replace IMHO. Just my $0.02.

Whispaz
07-19-2007, 02:53 PM
true. I'm going to try to do mine today. I just purchased the vinyl yesterday but i have to cut it to the area.

Any advice in cutting/applying?
I'm just nervous about using the exacto knife on the car

cincinfocal
07-24-2007, 05:13 AM
dont do the esacto on the car!!! see if you can make a stencil from tissue paper and then cut...i paid the extra moneys to get mine from that angle dude and its awsome!! already had someone bump me when i was parked and no marks on the cinyl but i have to touch of part of the bumper that was not covered...kinda sucks but its no big deal...

Noodles5666

I had an issue with my vinyl took it off and started to apply it then realized that I had no heatgun so I was screwed. Ordered another from Angel, decided to go glossy this time. Will post pics when I get applied.

Whispaz
07-25-2007, 02:16 PM
I did the same so to save it I just put on the top part. Doesnt look bad but I def. need to do it over

cincinfocal
07-26-2007, 01:32 AM
noodles5666 too bad you scrapped yours...all you need is a hair dryer / blow dryer...heat gun is too much heat...be carefull with it cause it heats up quick and you can stretch it too much and it will look real bad...but you can also use it to shrink the vinyl if you just blow on it and let it heat up without touching it...

Noodles5666
07-26-2007, 03:32 AM
Yeah I'm having my tint guy apply it. So he knows about using the heat gun just right.

What color would look good on a black xB?

Flat black might look cool with a black on black look.

Any other suggestions?

I'm definitely going to give this a try for $25.

For those of you who chose the vinyl, when applied, did it cover the two inserts for the tow hook?

apply over them then cut in the creases

Front Plates NOT mandatory in all 50 states. Some of us do not have to have them..

So the vinyl came from Angel. It was great quality.

Unfortunately, my vinyl application abilities are not great quality.

I will be ordering another, and I can hopefully get a pro to put it on.
