I m going to order the factory rear spoiler tmw. do i have to order the templates ?

It wouldn't hurt having the templates, unless you have a very good eye for lining holes up.

The templates make the installation easier, quicker, and more precise.

With the template, how hard is it to install? I'm great at technical stuff, but when it comes to Auto Body work, I have a hard time.


I really don't want to pay a retarded amount to install a spoiler.

There is a spoiler template / instruction kit available. The # is PT921-52081. It runs $25.00. I haven't ordered a spoiler, but i'd imagine the template would come with the spoiler kit.

I guess I could order it and see what happens, If it looks too hard, I can just take it to the dealer or a shop.

The templates are separate. They are not included with the spoiler.
My theory is that they can reuse the templates at the dealership so no need to include them in every kit. Besides that way they can charge for them.

It wasn't too hard to install. I found the templates to be most useful for getting the correct location front to back. This is important to ensure you get the correct angle on it.
The side to side location is just center it and locate the hole for the stud installed on the spoiler in each side. I put the templates on and then did a "check fit to see that the two studs on the spoiler could be lined up with the proposed hole locations.

One reason it is important to get the right location on the holes is to get the holes to line up with the holes inside for installation of the screws and nuts.

You'll notice I said mine is bolted on. :wink:

I had some concerns about the Wisconsin temperature extremes being a bad thing for the continued adherence of the spoiler using tape alone. :nails:
