Default 4EFTE Swap Question

He we go again, yet another motor swap question, i have a feeling i am going to have to hit up the echo forums for this, but i am seriously considering swapping the 1NZFE for a EP91 4EFTE. my question is, has anyone priced this, and/or, what would the cost estimate be to have a shop perform the swap, i can pick up a front clip for 1300...

The 4efte will not give you that much power unless you do a lot to it. Check out 4age or the 4agze. I got a price quoted from a shop in Georgia to do the swap to my Tercel and they said around $3000 + cost of engine and transmission. An additional 2k for a rebuild. I am not sure why you would want to do this to a Scion, you can pick up a good used Tercel or Paseo for around 1k to $1500. A Tercel weighs 2000 pounds even. Plus the ZPI turbo kit is pretty killer for the xB. In an xB with a 4efte with some minor mods you will probably only run high 15's, but just my two cents though.

im not a big fan of the paseo or tercel, no offense. a 4efte would destroy a 1NZ, and is a lot more reliable, its a bullet proof motor. ZPI turbo kit... we wont even touch on that subject, as it is though, i think im gonna skip the swap, just get some rods and pistons, and rebuild the 1NZ, see what i can do with it, ive already got a SC, so im thinking of twincharging it... ill have to wait until i get home in september until i start collecting parts though...

Twincharging sounds awesome you'll have to let me know how that goes. For reference though some people used the 5efe bottom end with the 4efte head so you end up with a 1.5l turbo motor.

out of curious ramblings, will the 1NZ head fit on a 5EFE?

Negative... They are too different. The reason the 4efte and the 5efe go together is because they have the same 'E' block. the 4 and 5 preceding the block identifier is the generation of the engine and the 't' is for turbocharged. The 4efte is very similar to the 5efe except it has stronger internals and the head makes it a 1.3 as opposed to the 5efe being a 1.5. There is also a 5efhe which is a slightly built up 5efe that was sold in Japan. A lot of people in the Tercel/Paseo community have found success with turbocharging the 5efhe.

I'd personally drop in a 2JZ-GTE Motor with a 67mm dbb.

well that had to be the shortest lived swap aspiration ive ever seen. I would love to see a 2zz in a xb one day.
