Default D&S what gas milage are you getting around in town(XB's)

I live in Tempe. I rarely see a freeway. Anyone that drives thru Tempe knows there is a stop light every 25 feet. What gas mileage are XB owners getting in town with the air on? I am just curious. I am getting crap gas mileage. I am pretty ____ed about it. If I was gonna get this kind of mileage I would have kept my Tundra. I am getting anywhere from 23.5 to 25 with the air on all the time. I was getting 14 with my Tundra. Any input?

There must be something wrong with this thing then. I have owned it 10 months and it has 9700 miles on it.

I sware the milage calcs on them are done on rollers with no resistance. I only get 25-26 in town. On a high end, I get 29 with a lot of freeway driving.

I'm still averaging right 30 to 32 mpg. And I have my fair share of lights as well.

I think I get like 28-30 miles. Also, how do u check for miles again. Do you divide the miles by the gallons or the gallons by the miles. So do u guys put the miles first on tghe cal. or the other way around.

I know that if you shift earlier than with a normal car, because the xB is geared so low, you will improve your MPG. Instead of taking the RPMs to 4000 when shifting, shift at 3000 or less. That will help out a lot. Use 5th gear in town if it is standard. If driving an automatic, do not push so hard. YOu will probably increase by at least 2 mpg. But your car is not broke in yet either. Wind and all that stuff play a huge factor. Anyway good luck.

hahaha... man, I bounce off the rev. limiter all the time.. and yes wind out here in QC sure toss's you around. But I still get that 28-30ish gas mileage.. I just think his engine is not broken in all the way yet..
IMO

I was getting around 26 to 28 during the winter. I filled up yesterday 22.189 mpg. That just sucks. I am not understanding what the problem is. The only thing I have done is put a short ram intake on it. And I just put a brand new oil less AEM filter on it. I thought the filter was the problem. I went and bought Mass Air Flow cleaner and cleaned that. I am stumped.

I know mine is better during the winter also. I know the motor works harder when it is 110+ outside. I also did an odometer test on my car and it is off by almost 1 block every mile. Who knows. Have you changed your wheels recently? Maybe RJ is right. Engine is just not broke in yet.

I have had the same rims and tires for the last 9000 miles. 16 X 7 Motegi RT5's on 205 50 16's. We did the GPS test and everything checks out. MPH is right on. I'd by the engine break in thing except.... I bought this thing in August last year(2006) it got 26 to 27mpg. During the winter slightly better. It's July and I am getting just over 22 mpg. I am just kinda bouncing ideas off you guys.

oh yea.. heat plays a big factor.. also.. tire pressure.. keep them at what the tire mfg recommeds.. I know I try to run a lower pressure since I have like no sidewall but it hurts my gas mileage.. ALIGNMENT.. omg. I did not think it would play a factor till I did my coilovers.. I been playing with my alignment and hieght.. man I had my toe off in the front and my gas mileage dropped like a rock.

Low pressure will tend to save your tread too, but like RJ said, it sucks for gase mileage.
