Default Switching to xA from xB

Yep! I might be join the ranks of all you xA owners very soon!
I'm doing a trade in deal for a demo 2006 RS3 that I can score for less than $14k.
I'm trading in my 06 xB and I might not have to even drop any cash, just refinance and switch cars!
...and usernames maybe...

I'm mostly buying it for my girlfriend to drive. She currently has a beater Corolla that we'll be selling that when the deal goes through.

Her birthday is this month and I think a new car would be a pleasent surprise!
She loves surprises!!

I was getting about 29 - 30 mpg with the xB. Can I expect a bit more than that with the xA?
How is the performance with the automatic trans?

I have an auto RS3 and I'm happy with the performance. It keeps up with the traffic here fine and accelerates well enough.
I get 35mpg without even trying in my car too. =)

Love those mileage numbers and it's good to hear the tranny is solid. Thanks.

They went for the deal! I'll even lower my payment in the process!!
Going to Maui Scion to pick it up now.

SO LONG XB...

I have both the xA and xB, and while I'm much more of an xB person the xA is a sweet little car.

You should get better mileage (and better performance when needed), and a somewhat better ride.

Enjoy!

Toasted, Congrats on the new xA! I'm sure you and your girlfriend will totally enjoy it! I've had mine 1.5 years, and 16,500 miles, and couldn't be happier with it! Also, my wife and I have visited Maui twice, and it is truly one of the most beautiful places on this earth! How lucky you are to live there!

She took a drive in it for the first time yesterday. Only complaint was the seat height. She has short legs and she says her feet are just a little floaty felling on the throttle pedal.

First mod... pedal covers!! That should help that problem.

Other that she LOVES it!! Me too. My other vehicle is a 2000 Isuzu Vehicross that gets about 16 mpg, but it rocks!! Nice to also have a gas miser in the family.

Does anybody make a stick-on bumper cover for the xA? She'll be using the back cargo area a lot and I think a little protection on the bumper would be a good idea. Also looking for some good seat cover and floor matt recommendations.

THANKS!!!

The Scion bumperguard thing was a bit lame when I saw it...
Myautofashion.com has a rear bumper guard that looks to be a whole lot better than the lame dealer guard. I haven't bought it yet but I'm really thinking about it.

Congrats on the car. =) I really like my RS3 and I enjoy asking my friends what color it is.

Well I did the first mod this afternoon. Had to address that seat height problem. It was really buggin her. I looked at the seat but no way was I gonna go hacking up the frame of a seat!!

SO... I cut a piece of 3/4" plywood and screwed it to two pieces of 2" x 4" and made a false floor that is 2.25" higher than the floor pan. Problem solved! Now she feels secure and comfy! I'll be covering it with some matching carpet this weekend, then put a floor mat over it and you'll hardly be able to tell the difference.

When I drive, I simply lift it out by the corner cutout for the gas lever, and stash it in the back or leave it at home.

I'll get a pic up this weekend.
