Default So mad!!

So I save and save for what seems like forever and I finally saved enough to buy the pioneer D3! I bought it from a guy on ebay. I bought this almost 2 weeks ago and I havent heard anything back from him. Multiple emails and phone calls have not be returned. I filed a dispute with pay pal so I'm just hopeing I can get my money back at least and I will just save a little more to buy new. I really dont get how people can scam like that. It just ____es me off that I have to wait even longer now because some guy whats to be a jacka$$. Anyways just needed a place to vent.

Sorry to hear that... I hope for your sake he has a high feedback # so you can at least have some confidence that you are dealing with an actual business as opposed to some scammer with a laptop working out of some tent in the middle of west bubblef|_|ck.

best of luck,

XB Toast,

MAN!!! sorry to here that Before i bought mine i also looked on ebay crutchfield and a few other places that were as low as 700.00. I didint have a good feeling about buying such a high end stero off the internet, so I sucked it up and bought it from CC, got it for 949.00, i decided to do this just in case somthing was wrong and i would be able to go exchange it if needed.

Sorry man, hope you get it the D3 is fantastic!!!

Thanks guys.

bbszero69, how long should I wait before I escalate the dispute because I really doubt this guy is ever going to respond.

Socalrider, ya i felt bad the moment I bought it. I knew I should have bought new. And thats what Im going to do as soon as I get my money back and get a little more cash.

JUST A BIG RULE OF THUMB FOR YOU GUYS!!!!!

a lot of resellers you see on froogle.com and other sites buy things from manufacturers (sony, pioneer, etc) refurbished - but it goes a step futher.

if you see a sony camera which sells for $600 in the store on a site online for $300 - chances are that
1) it is refurbished

AND NOW THE BIG AND IMPORTANT ONE

2) You don't get -ALL- of the accessories/manuals/cables/cases/etc that you would get if you got it at a local electronics store.

I know a few people that bought cameras online and when they got them, it was just the camera in a plastic sleeve and the battery. no manual, no charger, etc etc etc.

keep this in mind!!! the other thing i do is use craigslist when i wanna buy something and not pay so much for it. you can find people selling used avic navigation systems, tv's, computers etc on there and you get to meet the person before you fork over the cash electronically.

Craigslist is where I found the best bargain of my life - I bought a $3,000 touch screen laptop + docking station for only $600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and no it wasnt stolen, fake, etc. lol... if you click the last link in my sig, you'll see the laptop that i got.

just info for you guys,
- sh00k

I had bought my Eclipse deck off of eBay but the thing was he was (somewhat)local, and instead of paying through credit card or paypal, I drove up there with a few friends and picked it up. It was worth it, and I got a hell of a deal (he blew all his amp/sub money on the HU)

thanks for the info, midtowndesi...I am a cautious online shopper too, very few things have I bought from Ebay, unless they had a 99% satisfaction rating or higher, otherwise I stick to the big chains (Best Buy, Crutchfield, etc)

Paying an extra $100-150 at the store is fine by me since I get the peace of mind knowing 1) I will actually get what I paid for and 2) if something goes wrong, I have a place to complain.

I like eBay, but have gotten screwed over once, similar to what the OP describes. Give it about 48 hours, and then escalate. In no time at all PayPal will have your money back.

Escalate it to protect yourself. The guy that screwed me over had a pretty good rating. Stated that he would refund my money. So I didn't escalate it, guess what - never heard from the guy once the case was closed.
