I need the part number of this beam in the engine bay where the horns, radiator, and hood latch are connected. Or does anybody know what it's called?

Do you know where can I get this beam aside from the dealership?

And does anybody know of a DIY on how to replace it?

I stole the images from xIxAMxHOLLYWOODx. Thanks btw!

I took a close look earlier and saw 5 bolts. Two on each sides and one near the hood latch at the center like a vertical steel blade. I'm still not sure though...

WOW! Thanks! I didn't even think that Sparks would carry such a thing. Good find!

Half of the problem is solved. Now, does anybody know how to replace it?

I just looked at mine...looks like you take a bunch of bolts off, a few nuts, take off the hood latch thingy from the bar since the latch is attached to the vertical support bar. Doesn't appear to be any welding, cutting at all...just bolts and nuts to me.

Yeah, looks like it's easy to replace. I just need to make sure that the radiator won't fall off when I remove it.

Hmmm that may be an issue...just use something to support it on either side...like wood planks or boxes. I doubt it would fall but you never know. Atleast you know its fixable :)

ok just checked it like 3 times. i actually used it as a grounding point for my "big 3" lol

but its ok. ends up that my d3 is showing lower voltage than it shows on my batt. i dont think its too serious its like .1 volt off.

whew. haha

sorry to hear about the tree incident man. good luck! :D

OH!, now that's just a sh!tty deal man, I was thinking you hit a tree :P Oh and a safer idea when to take the bracket off is to just have someone else there to hold the radiator up just incase it moves. I think there are A/C lines around there too so you don't want to mess them up from the radiator moving.

Yeah, I'll file a claim to the management of the apartment complex. I hope they'll cover the repairs since the tree is in their property.

Man that sucks. At least it didn't take the roof and windshield too.

Daskid

Yeah, good thing it missed the windshield and roof.

On the other note, I'm still debating if I'll get another OEM hood or go for a CF hood. What do you guys think?

captainlaziness

OEM style C/F or somethin' else?

Daskid

Yeah, I'm thinking about the OEM C/F hood. IDK if it'll look good on an SSM. Pics of SSM w/ CF hood posted here on SL looks good but I prefer to see it in person.
