On behalf of Scion, we're happy to announce the Indianapolis debut of Scion VIP at the NHRA Sport Compact Nationals, August 19, 2007 at Indianapolis Raceway Park, Indianapolis, IN.
Some of you have been lucky enough to attend a few Scion VIP events before, but for those new to ScionVIP here's a little backgrounder...
A little intro -
Scion VIP events are exclusive events designed to treat Scion owners to a day of VIP fun as a way to thank you for joining the growing Scion family. At NHRA Sport Compact events like the Indy Sport Compact Nationals, Scion VIP events are also a great opportunity to meet and cheer on the Scion Racing Team - Leslie Armendariz, Kenny Tran, Chris Rado, and Brad Personett.
Scion VIP events have taken place up and down, and across the country, from Englistown, NJ to Pomona, CA, and from Boston, MA to West Palm Beach, FL. At each Scion VIP event, we select a number of owners from a pool of registration entries to receive Scion VIP packages for entry and participation at the Scion VIP event. Winners of VIP packages are selected by a variety of factors - including level of modification and a bit of randomness.
Whats in the ScionVIP package? -
Scion VIP packages typically include: entry for the owner and a guest into the event, car show entry into a special Scion-only car show competition, access to a very-exclusive catered Scion VIP hospitality lounge, giveaways, gifts, and more.
How do I get invited? -
Register for the Indianapolis event at www.scionvip.com. We will select 100 owners to join us at Indianapolis for a day of unforgettable fun.
Have more questions? -
Feel free to contact the event staff at scion@urbanracer.com or call 718 279 2202 (M-F 10AM-6PM EDT).
To get a better idea of what to expect, check out photo coverage of past events in the Scion VIP gallery:

Is this on the 18th or 19th? The website says Saturday the 19th but the 19th is a Sunday.....

Sorry, clarification - Scion VIP is on Sunday, August 19 only. The NHRA Sport Compact event is a two-day event but Scion VIP activities are only on Sunday.

how will this play out for people who are doing ITB there already?
ScionVIP
07-10-2007, 04:47 PM
If you are a Scion VIP package winner, you will not need to pay entry into ITB. However, you will be required to park in the Scion group parking area - close to the Scion hospitality tent (featuring entertainment, food, giveaways, swag, and beverages - I.E. more than enough to make it worth parking in the Scion VIP area).
Hope that answers your question.

Have you driven the 200 some odd miles on US-31 from South Bend? Most days I prefer a sharp stick in the eye than to drive that, but I may have to put the stick down and show up. Gotta show the indy group some love =)

still confused about the whold ITB and this. ITB starts Friday ... so if we get in the vip do we park there all weekend? does that mean "no" crusing around the show? and do we still get juged with everyone at ITB.

when they are talking about cruising that is on sat when everyone is tring to get into the show. this show usually brings in about 3000 to 3500 cars the whole weekend. it is a great show and the minitrucks and imports take over that side of town for 3 days and nights. it is a must go show.
i reg. for both and i will see what happens when it gets closer

Hey all,
Big thanks to those of you who have registered so far, this may be the one of the biggest Scion gatherings in the midwest if we can get a full field of 100 cars. Its looking good right now but theres opportunity for more signups.
I know there are a lot of questions about the setup betweeen ITB and Scion VIP. Its still a little fluid, but here is the current setup for the event.
Scion VIP participants will be parked in a Scion VIP area with the Scion Racing Team - yes, with Chris Rado, Brad Personett, Leslie Armendariz, and Kenny Tran - on one side of the track. The comfy Scion VIP Hopsitality Tent , where lunch will be served and giveaways conducted - will be in this area as well. Scion VIP participants will be given 2 admission tickets (owner and a guest) for Sunday, August 19 only.
ITB will be on the other side of the track. ITB participants will be able to check out the Scion VIP area as well as the rest of the NHRA Indy Sport Compact Nationals - and vice versa.
However, judges for the Scion VIP show field will be independent Scion judges - not ITB judges. Its all in fun, but those of you looking for some nice hardware will not be disappointed in the Scion VIP trophies (big 3 post for first place and specialty, 2 post trophies for second and third).
The categories/specialty awards are as follows:
Scion xA (1,2,3)
Scion xB (1,2,3)
Scion tC (1,2,3)
Best Paint/Exterior
Best ICE
Scion Dedication Award
Best New Gen xB
Best Release Series Scion
Best of Show
Scion Racing Award
There will also be plenty of swag, a DJ, and a PS3-equipped lounge in the tent. Best of all - as guests of Scion, its ALL free for Scion VIP package winners. Just need to register on www.scionvip.com for your chance to win.
Help make the Hoosier debut of Scion VIP a blast by making it out to Indy on August 19.
See you guys there!
- Jackie, Scion VIP Event Team

Hi all,
Quick update about Scion VIP entry winners - we have started selecting winners and will continue to do so until we fill all 100 VIP spots. If you haven't received an email invitation from Scion VIP yet - we either have not gotten to you yet or there possibly was an email issue (especially if you have registered awhile ago and you have an AOL, Yahoo, or Hotmail account).
And no, your car does not have to be judged for the Scion VIP car show if you do not wish to.
We will being posting all winners on www.scionvip.com in case you want to check. We want to fill all 100 VIP spots and there are about two dozen spots left, so please help get the word out so we can make this the biggest Scion get-together in Indiana yet!
As always - if you have any questions, please email us at scion@urbanracer.com or call us at 718 279 2202 (M-F, 10-6).
Thanks!
Best,
Scion VIP Event Team

I thought the judging was pretty horrible. Some cars that won shouldnt have over others. I also think people that didnt stay for the awards deserved to get an award.
All and all other then seeing old and new friends, a big let down in my book.

Food - good. Better than the usual hamburgers/hot dogs.
Music - Eh, I wasn't in the tent a whole lot so I didn't pay much attention to it.
Freebies - Pretty cool shirts, nice bags.. more visors than I need...
Judging - My biggest complaints about this are:
1) the inability to write down anything you have done to your car - Judges can't see certain things you've done! When will the masterminds of some shows realize this?
2) Judging during lunch - Most of us were around our cars all day, and only left to get food once it was available. This is a big flaw in the judging routine... I understand there are a lot of cars to look at, but damn.. start early.. ask questions. Don't just walk around the car and judge based on what you can see.
3) Leaving before awards - I understand you drove a long distance to come to the show... but why leave if you think you stand a chance to win something? In all honesty, this should disqualify you from winning
Other than that, I had a decent time. Saw a horrible bikini contest with girls who needed to eat a sammich or two. I still don't get the appeal of mini trucks and the need to drag the whole thing on the ground... but thanks to Scion for hosting this event for us... easily the biggest Scion sponsored event in Indiana. Great turnout.

All and all other then seeing old and new friends, a big let down in my book.I agree with what you are saying first off. My take on doing shows after 20+ years of them is to expect the judging to stink before you even go. That way your day doesn't end up being ruined when you don't get an award. If you get an award and you know the judging was done right it will make that award mean something.

I agree, my friends and I drove our xB's over to ITB and by the time we got back which was before the 4:30 pm awards time it was over. Although I did get an award it still would have been nice to let the judges know what was all underneath what you could see. Scion Backstage was nice because you got to do a drive through video and tell about your car, but to give credit to the judges they did try. I was somewhat surprised with the award I won I thought I might have had a shot at the ICE award but that went to 1 of my running partners. It was nice to meet and talk too a lot of you, sorry to the ones I may have seemed to have brushed off or seemed to have ignored it was not intended. Hope to meet each of you in the future.
If those of you here on the post don't think I deserve the award I got take a vote amoung yourselves and I'd be more than glad to give it too whom you all choose. Winning an award is nice but I like meeting new people and showing what can be done wtih the box, I guess I've said my piece everyone enjoy the rest of the show season.

This was only my third show to attend...it was nice to finally put some faces to the names I see on here all the time and meet some other owners too. I still haven't figured out the judging on these things, it's been different at every show. The food was much better than the last two. The truck show was kind of Cool and I agree with SirPhobos1... I drove all the way from Milwaukee to Indy ( 5 hours each way) to go to this on a set of tires with no tread ( 47,000 miles Original tires ). Almost crashed numerous times because of that bad rain in Milwaukee and Chicago. Just to go to this event. I was only there in Indy for 5 hours and that made my whole day! This event was awesome, looking at all the cars there it was like being in fast and the ferrous. These events scion is doing just keep getting better and better. I plan on going to more things like this where people are showing off there rides! What was so cool about this was that it didn't matter if your ride is a rat rod or a show car you showed it off! Hell it didn't matter your car was a non running project and people dragged them with to show them off. Plus the whole time I was away from home partying, It was raining in WI.
THANKS SCION!
