Default xA Shortshifter question

Just a quick question & sorry if this has been covered already.

Just bought my xA today so I am kind of a xA noob I guess.

Is the shifter in the xB & xA interchangable ?

I had an RS-Type in my old xB & liked it but it isn't showing an xA for the part. I tried contacting a seller a week ago & got no response. All of the xA ones I have seen are just the shifter post & not the shifter w/ the cage, where as the RS-Type has the cage & that is what is throwing me off.

Thanks in advance for anyone that can shed a lil light on this.

ok ive installed 3 short shifters on my car before finally getting a decent one. The first one i purchased was a cheapy eBay POS. The shift change was about 20%, which is virtually nothing and the cage was so badly made that shifting was like trying to put a square peg in a round hole. The second one was the TRD original, which included the cage, but was incredibly overpriced, the throw was once again a 20% difference, but this one actually shifted correctly and felt smooth. Then recently i wanted something more aggresive, so i looked at Perrin Performance and their adjustable short throw. This one doesn't have a cage and switching out the shift rod was a pain in the a$$, but worth every single bad word that came out of my mouth during the install. You can adjust from 20%-200% and thats a BIG difference. I wouldn't switch it for the world.

If you want a GOOD shifter with a cage go TRD, dont buy any cheap rip-offs, like on the SSuperstore.com, you can get the same one on eBay for $25.00. Its NOT NOT NOT worth it. Of course its affordable and a breeze to install, but its up to you.

just get a good adjustable shifter, and re-use the old cage. it is a pain to swap out, but worth it.. all you need to do is go to your local hardware store and get a disked washer or a c ring.... see install instructions for cravenspeed short shifter or any other short shifter install article in the tech section..
overall, it took me 45 min to change mine out, including time to run to hardware store, buy longer bolts, and washers to shim my cage up... dunno if you will have this issue in the xa though.. you may need to shim, you may not..
