Default Billet Grille Installation

Contributed by iScion26

Just thought that some people might want to know how to do this and I haven't found a tutorial on this site anywhere yet.

Installing a Billet Grille for a Scion xB.

Tools required:
Drill, Socket Wrench, Flat head screwdriver, Phillips Head screwdriver, 1/8” Drill Bit, 7/16 Socket, (2) 7/16” Bolts, (2) ½” 7/16” Flat head Screws, Silver Sharpie or colored marker.

Parts Included that you need:
Billet Grille, (2) ¾” Phillips Screws, (2) Flat Nuts

Please read these instructions before installing your grille.

Installation Instructions

1.Once you have the hood of the car open, use a flat head screw driver to pop off the stock fasteners, do not discard of them yet.

2.Remove the factory grille shell.

3.Center the new billet grille for measurements. Make sure that the top of the grille aligns correctly with the top mounting brackets. You may have to slightly bend the mounting brackets for best fit. I recommend using a crescent wrench to bend them.

4.Use a silver sharpie or other visible marker to mark where the lower mounting bracket holes should be drilled.

5.Remove the billet grille and use a 1/8” drill bit to drill 2 holes in the plastic for the 2 lower mounting brackets.

6.Fasten the new grille to the mounting brackets on the headlamps. You can use either 2 half inch 7/16” srews and bolts to fasten it or you can use the factory fasteners that you removed earlier. Both of them work, it just depends on your grille. I found that mine was too small for the fasteners. The easiest way to attach the screws is if you hold the nut on the bottom with your finger and then hand tighten the screw. Make sure the grille is aligned correctly with the bottom holes you drilled earlier.

7.Now place a flat nut on the bottom of the bottom mounting bracket then place a ¾” Phillips screw through the hole in the bracket. Then tighten the screw until flat with a Phillips head screwdriver.

8.Now using a 7/16” socket tighten the two upper mounting screws. DO NOT TIGHTEN THEM TOO MUCH!!! You just need them more than hand tight to prevent them from coming loose.

That’s it! Make sure that everything is aligned perfectly and that the hood does not hit the grille when its closed. If necessary, remove the grille and adjust the brackets.

i did not buy the bottom grilles but i went ahead and took out the bottom stock ones. They just snap out of place. and then i guess the new ones snap back in. i'll let you know exactly how this works if i end up buying them.

If any of you guys want the Complete Billet set you can find them on my website. These are nice and thick bars and install is pretty simple I would even be willing to help you install. Ask around to some of the people that know me and my b they will tell you how nice they are.

Yeah it did, all you have to do is bend the connectors a bit and it is fixed. It does not perfectly line up with the previous stock grille.

almost no aftermarket billet grill will line up perfectly because it would have to be curved in two directions down and back, given the spaces between the bars that makes it nearly impossible.
