Default zpi stage 1

I was researching the zpi stage 1 head and it says it adds 21 h.p to a near stock engine. Its 550$, not too bad. I was wondering after i/h/e should i get this. It says the car will run overly rich and more power can be achieved with piggyback fuel controller. Is this worth it. thanks OO one more would this be hard to install and is that all you need the stage 1 head. thanks peace

i was lookin into getting it..ive seen in one persons sig he has the head on a boosted TC..but i was thinkin of doing that along with turbo...the head first tho...id go for it but after the i/h/e cuz the more flow will only help...its not like its to extreme of a head wehre it wont flow on a stock TC but i wouldnt rec. just throwin a semi built head on a bone stock tc thats a waste but for what you want for 550 its better then spending 550 speakers or somethin

http://www.turbo-kits.com/tC_turbo_kits.html \

at the bottom of the page, says it adds 21h.p to a stock engine, well worth it if can be installed by yourself.

I don't know why more people don't read the webpage more closely.

The cost of the head is NOT $550. That's the cost of the Port 'n Polish on the head. The head itself costs $700 in addition to that, which is refunded when ZPI receives your head. Plus, you absolutely need new head studs. The ones in the tC's engine are not reusable.

So, unless you're planning on unbolting your head, mailing it to ZPI, and waiting until they PnP it, you're looking at a $1400 investment ($550 PnP + $150 studs + $700 head). And it requires some special tools to install, since you have to remove and replace the cams and head studs, so install labor is going to be relatively expensive (I would expect $200-$400).

So a $550 21 whp mod just turned into $1600-$2000 rather quickly. Granted, you'll probably get $700 back pretty quick, but still...expect to spend at least $900 for a $550 stage 1 head. :D

you dont need to replace the head bolts.. you can reuse them. head studs are highly recommended especially if your plannin on boosting through that head. then yea you dont need them...the head is $550 and you send your old head in so the most you pay is 550+tax. 700 extra if you dont send the head in but id send it in. i doubt its a full head so you'll have to strip yours down..

$550+(go high idn what the tax rate is)$50+shipping so its like 750??? still a lot but not 1600

I don't think the head has been on the dyno yet with a stock car cuz they just moved past that stage of pnp head on a stock car. I think the power is only estimated. There is one guy with a pnp head I think he did himself and that's tcpete. He's all motor and has a nice setup.

I would put the money towards other parts. Also to the guy who wants to get the pnp head with a turbo, I'd put the money towards something else also. "Whocares05050" who is one of the guys with the pnp head and turbo likes the head and it helps spool the turbo faster but he said he would have put the money towards something else like internals (which I'd recommend also before a pnp head).
